What do you carry as spare parts

OK, I’m new to the Monty 5er world – we bought a 3811MS about 6 months ago and have been reading a lot of posts about suspension ware, lubrication points, wet bolts, and so on. So a couple questions! I have a new 41 ft Monte and want to know what spare parts I should carry. Does the newer Montana have the same suspension problems? I'm hoping to head off as many problems as I can before they happen so hopefully when something happens I won’t be stranded on the side of the road. If I'm prepared it will save a lot of grief.

After I had a wet bolt fail and break in two, I replaced it with a steel sleeve, grade 8 bolt and nylock nut and regular grade 8 nut. But this was only till I got to morryde from florida and had the I.S. installed. If I had kept the old suspension, I would have those parts as spares for one or two wet bolts. I kept my old level up control panel as a spare because it still functioned but was very hard to view after I got a new one. That is all I would carry and worry about. Gorilla tape IS one thing I always have on board. I had to use it once to contain my awning arm to the fifth wheel when it was broken by a huge metal sign that I could not avoid. It held until I got parts from dometic.

screws, nuts, bolts, Dicor, caulking gun, torque wrench, cordless drill, TPMS, bottle jack, and air compressor added to the above lists of parts will be a good start

If it got to the point of replacing springs I'm in trouble.

still have one available for the truck that comes to deal with it...a lot easier.

and the suspension you have is just the same as what is on older models...things WILL happen if you pull it a lot.

maybe someday you can get the I/S-disc brake system....just another $7000:-)

Dicor is a brand. They make a caulk and a tape for repairs on the rubber roof. I carry a patch kit from them that has a big piece of rubber roofing material, I believe 18" X 18" and a tube of the caulk/sealer. I also carry a roll of their tape. You never know when a low limb is going to put a tear in that rubber roof.

Thank you - I'll look into that. I have the self leveling roof caulk but a patch could be better.

I should have been a little more clear. I've probably patched 6 tears. One of my own and several for friends. You just cut the size piece you need from the 18" X 18" piece. Bet I still have a 12" X 12" piece left.

Looks like a good list from several Monty owners. For tools I also carry a 12 ton hydraulic jack, several 18 inch pieces of 2x6 to set the jack on, and an air compressor--needs to be capable of air pressure fit for your tire size. Voltmeter for tracing DC and AC issues if you are comfortable doing that job and a good head light to wear for looking into dark spaces! Finally one of the square bit screw drivers and screw driver bit--lots of screws with square slots are used in RVs.

If the bedroom slide is cable operated, a spare cable kit (it will have 4 cables but you don't need 4 kits). If it's a Schwintek or hydraulic slide, no clue.

Light bulbs, fuses, a/c filter, water filter, assortment of nuts, bolts and screws, hose washers, extra lengths of sewer hose, an extra water hose, a PEX crimper and a few 1/2" fittings (or 1/2" Shark-Bite fittings) and a 3 foot length of PEX line, a set of wheel bearings, seal and grease for one hub.

Your spares bin will grow and grow as you keep on RVing. I had to put mine on a diet this year as it outgrew the plastic bin.
