There is only so much you can do after dark in a campground beyond sitting around the campfire and swat mosquitoes. I suspect most people are up early for other activities and worn down by evening.

In most campgrounds, quiet time starts at 10pm.

To us, those "dead" campgrounds sound PERFECT!

9 PM or earlier is our bed time. Is it just me or does it seem that all of the campgrounds are dead at 5 AM?

That would be us! If we want a bunch of noise and partying we would have stayed at home.

We love to sit outside as long as possible, walk around and socialize, enjoy a campfire. Why would you want to go inside so early? I hope this isn't a new trend. We are usually up to 10 or 11. beeje we'll stay out "late" with you.

We have been doing the 'seasonal thing' the past few years with our usual early and late trips. This CG is quiet Sunday-Thursday. On Friday evening, there is a CG bonfire where most of the folks attend and chin wag until 9-9:30. Other weekend nights there are activities such as the Monte Carl night, Mystery Theater nights, a dance night, a group of singers night and this weekend it will be a tailgate party. There are at least 3-4 pot luck suppers which can get kinda noisy with babble.

As far as bed time, we are generally ready about 10:30. My DW reads or watches the tube for a while. I'm usually up somewhere between 5:00 and 6:00 as I have for 50 years while my DW slugs it out until about 7-7:30 since she usually wont turn her side light out until after 11:00.

So quiet weekends? Not at our home CG unless you want it to be.

I may be among the minority here but I enjoy sitting around the fire, having a cold one and socializing with friends, or just meeting new people at each campground. No one says it has to be a loud party or disturb the neighbors, I gave up loud drinking parties some years ago.
I don't think that goes against "quiet time", but if me sitting out enjoying a fire and company bothers some then I'll say i'm sorry now ahead of time.

It depends on the trip for us, usually we are up early and hiking or fishing most the day, 12 hours outside and I'm getting kinda bushed and ready for (another) cold one and a hot shower

What really strikes me is that anyone would be SURPRISED that folks go to bed at 9pm when they are CAMPING. Most folks go camping to enjoy outdoor activities, most of which start early in the morning. IF they wanted to stay up late and party they would go to a bar in town.

What is really sad is that campgrounds have to establish quite hours because so many folks don't know how to behave in a public setting. Some folks are honestly clueless not realizing that others might not appreciate their loud laughter after the sun goes down. Those are the folks that make you want to get up just a little earlier in the morning and rev up the diesel engine right beside their camper for an hour or so...... Its a sad commentary on our society that so many have so little respect for others!!!

We are so lucky that we live in a great RV park where our neighbors respect each other. I leave for work before most of them get up at about 4:30am and do everything I can to be as quiet as possible doing so. Everyone around us does there best to keep the noise down (including the barking dogs) out of RESPECT for the rest. You won't find any boom boxes on the streets here but the folks will wave hello and strike up a conversation with you anytime. Its a far better world when folks respect each other!

Beeje,

There are a lot of different campgrounds out there with different atmospheres and clientele. Find the ones that match your lifestyle.

Absolutely correct.

We like ours usually very quiet. Others like the Jellystone Park kind where kids are the reason for existing.

LOL Great thread!! We have been doing the Work Camping thing. I do Support from 12 AM to 8 AM PDT. So here i Ohio it is 3AM to 11 AM. That means I turn into a pumpkin at about 7PM. DW stays up. Here at Heritage Springs in Vanlu OH, they have an adult trolly that they haul around on Friday nights. that gets kind of loud-- I sleep right through it.
