Surge protectors

I see Surge Guard has two different 50amp protectors for hard wiring Is the less expensive one any good. I will replace mine if it can't be fixed.

I bought the hardwire unit 50amp @$279. works just fine, no problems.

We have used the protable Surge protector from CW. The first one went out after 4 years of use. I went with the portable type because it was used on 5 different 5th wheels. Another reason is I didn't want to cut the wiring and if you do upgrade or trade for a new 5th wheel its not a problem just plug and play. I replaced the Surge protector that went out with the same type. GBHY...

Generally, other factors being equal, the higher the joule rating the better the protection. The $279 [1750 joules] is probably about the minimum based on a little bit of googling. The $455 unit has a 3350 joule rating.
