Never look at any of those sensors. I dump every 10 days or when one of the gray tanks should be getting full.

We have jugs of water with us in our bathroom. Count about 25 of them and then go empty the tank. I wonder if you could add a water flow gauge to your water line on the toilet and reset it after each dump of the tank.

We have the same situation. We are living in our 2018 3160RL. I bought a 65 gallon plastic tank from tractor supply. I adapted it for RV gate and hose. Then I bought a macerator pump that is made for RVs. A garden hose works to fill the tank. There are 2 of us and we dump about every 3 weeks. That way we don’t move the RV I’ll try and send pics. Later

After dumping and rising several times I use a flow meter and add 25-30 gallons to the tank. Just two of us and I dump again after a week. And repeat the process.

If one buys one of the "real" tank monitors, then you will always know if your tanks are 60% full or what. The old cheap indicator system put in by manufacturers belong in the 19th century or a third world country where you woundn't find an rv.

Check with septic tank service company. When we stayed at the lake a couple years ago, we had our local septic service bring out a 200 gallon tank and they came by once a week to pump it out.

Do you recommend a brand for a good tank monitor?

Laura and Rob, we installed the SeaLevel gages. They use the existing wires and the sensor attaches with adhesive to the side of the tank. They have a variety of systems for multiple tanks and some include propane monitoring as well. You would need to drop the bottom plastic from your Montana. Front and back. The Montana’s use the shorter sensor length. To get the best accuracy, you tape them in place and fill with a measured amount of water to make sure you get the most accurate reading. Our water tank is set to show lower than actual and our black/gray tanks are set to show fuller. Kind of like setting your clock ahead five minutes. Two helpful hints that I received from a fellow MOCer that helped me. First, replace the fasteners with stainless steel washers and self tapping screws. Second, while you have it off, spray paint your spare carrier with Rustoleum. My 2015 Montana used nails for installation of the bottom plastic cover. I used a Roto Zip with a cutoff wheel to grind a notch and then a pry bar like a claw hammer to remove the nails. I replaced the nails with stainless self tapping screws. Hope this helped. By the way, as long as we had the bottom off, we also replaced the dump valves with solid wire Valterra valves. You will read about people having their valves stick. Stuck open, bad but not terrible. Stuck closed and full - have someone else fix it.

We have a 2007, Montana RL3400 on a seasonal site. Just two of us and we find it necessary to dump the black tank every four days like clock work. I have a built in flush system and rinse the tank for about five minutes with the valve open and then close it and run the back wash for seven minutes, and dump twice. Still have to dump every four days. I leave the grey water and kitchen tanks open all season but do occasionally close them and add tank cleaners and let them sit overnight, dumping in the morning. Have been doing this for three years and have not had any problems. I did use Unique sensor cleaner once and it worked but within four days, the sensors were stuck again. The "burp" is my sign to dump now.

If you have a good ear for pitches, you will notice a higher pitch to the sound when you flush as the tank is getting full. That's what we go by.
