We do the same. What viscosity do you Use? I'm using a 5w 40ish something. I thought the interval for fuel filters is every oil change.

Engine oil

I use Mobil 1 full synthetic. I have dual turbos and it calls for 5 w 40 and that's what I use. I get Fram filters and change the oil myself and no problems what so ever. I only put miles on the vehicle in the summer so I change twice a year and I put on about 2,000 to 5,000 miles a year... I have a 2008 Ford F 350 diesel SRW .
Sometimes I take a vehicle to the dealer and get Ford oil and filter when I don't have the time to do it but the truck is usually in the summer and the quantity of oil (15qts) tells me to do it myself.

Tow with a 04 f250 6.0 . Change T6 oil & Motorcraft filter every 5k miles, Motorcraft fuel filters replaced every other oil change. Also send an oil sample to Blackstone lab every other oil change. Currently at 210k miles on stock motor.

We are using Rotella T6 with Purple filter. Change when the engine tells me to which is dependent on whether we are towing or not.

I take mine to Ford and use their full synthetic every 5k. Change fuel and separator filters every third oil change.

I've run diesels since 1994, those early years just ran non syn Rotella 15-40 and changed every 5000 miles because it wasn't expensive and did it myself. With the latest truck I run Rotella T-6 full synthetic and Hot Shots FR3 oil additive. I have the dealer change it every 7500 miles. I have the water separator drained every oil change. I have the dealer change the fuel filters at 20k miles as well as the air filter. I use all genuine MotorCraft filters, you can save a ton of money on filters at dieselfilteronline.com. I also found the water separator drain caps on that site for under 4.00, it's good to have a couple unhand in case one should break if you had to drain the separator while on a trip in the middle if nowhere. So far mine has not used any oil in the 30k miles I have put on the 6.7

I haven't had problems with major engine work since I'm on top of it watching my mileage. It seems I also need to focus on changing the transmission fluid and filter more often. Seems like the transmission goes out first since I'm not on top of it compared to oil changes.

does the water separator get taken care of when you change the fuel filter. I just do the filter at the dealer and never mention the water thing.
Thanks.

On a truck forum, the guys say they use regular dino oil and change it (and filter) at 35,000. I think I'll stick with the dino and annual changes.

Regular dino and change at 5,000 even though the manual says I can go farther. I don’t wait for the info center to tell me. No way would I go 35,000 between changes. My third diesel and never a problem or one that used oil between changes.

You can go 35,000 miles between changes or change oil at 5000 miles, but should you. I’ll take the manufacturers recommendations and change it when they say I should. GM says 3000 is a waste of money. I don’t know of any manufacturer that will warranty an engine that went 35,000 miles between charges.

I have to agree with you. Since i’m Using a premium synthetic (Rotella T6) and the best oil filter on the market (Royal Purple), there isn’t a need for changing the oil any sooner than the truck tells. As long as you are telling the truck you are towing, it will adjust the change interval. 2018 F450.

T6 in our 2015 Duramax, and AC Delco filter. if I am towing I will generally change it around 7000 miles. When not towing I let it go 10,000 to 12,000. Always change it myself. 15 minute process that takes me longer to grumble about it and find the tools in the box than to change it. Recently been wondering if Lucas makes a diesel oil as I have always liked their racing oil. (used it in our 2004 gto with K&N filter and got 178,000 miles out of it before the accident that totaled the car.)

2007 GMC HD classics Duramax Allison 6 speed. 129K miles on her now.. Dino oil since day one...either Delo 400 or Rotella non synthetic...run Transynd in the Allison...

I change oil and filter twice a year since I typically drive less than 10K a year.. always fresh oil filter.. I change fuel filter once a year...I’d DIC indicates fuel filter due I reset One time without changing... I’ve never seen anything in the fuel filter to be concerned about

I also do not nor does Allison recommend dropping pan and changing internal filter...only the spin on...and absolutely no power flush allowed on mine...

YMMV but my 2007 LBZ is running fine, burns no oil, and has no issues.
