Mice again
Oh, for the love of Mickey!
Getting the 5er ready for a long weekend at a local cg and found evidence of mouse infestation in the galley when I brought it home from storage.
Rats! no pun intended...
No food, no water, no nuthin' that they would want except for a warm place to sleep. And poop. Poop everywhere. They really liked the nested measuring cups under the sink...
I don't mean to whine, but it just adds hours to getting the trailer ready to go out when you have to unload all the drawers and wash & disinfect. Lesson learned. Will leave traps out next time I put it in storage.

Before we went full time I used to have to set and check my trap lines regularly. Even after full timing we still occasionally have to put the trap lines out.

Just be glad (if) they didn't gnaw into anything like wiring or upholstery. We had them last year and you're right, they create more work for you. In my case, there wasn't anything costly damaged by the little critters. Hope the same is true for you..

I tell everyone the Home Sentinel electronic units work great. Three years, no mice, spiders etc. Amazon has the units with ultra sound, electro magnetic and sonic. They are great!

What happens if you use those devices and have cats or dogs full timing with you?

DQDick it is my understanding that cats and dogs are not bothered by these units. Oh and if you have cats YOU are fulling timing with them.

Dick they have pet friendly settings. Our dogs and cat sleep near them. When trailer is stored we put them on continue full strength mode. I would not recommend these if not for my own experience. We bought an outdoor unit and place it under the RV. Keeps critters from even coming near RV. That unit is motion detection activated. We did that because "a Possum family tried to get into the undercarriage of RV parked next to ours. Our unit quickly ram them off. Very sold on these units! I may have mentioned that couple years ago our RV group got hit by stink bugs while camping in Indiana. Our units in the Montana worked on those difficult pests. None stayed around the Montana long. Our friends had them inside the RV for weeks after we got home.

A service tech told us to buy a couple of cheap canine flea collars to cut up and distribute near areas that pests might enter.. Been doing this for a couple of years and no problems with mice, ants, bugs. Good luck!

If you follow the sink drain pipes...they enter the wall through huge holes and this leads into pass through and underbelly. No need to give the critters an interstate for travel. John

Dick we have two of them. One under dining room table and second in bedroom area. This is brand we use, note not all reviews are as positive as me. I have had great success.

Thanks, if you read some of the negative comments they're good for grins. Putting one in the kitchen and having it work, but being disappointed that the ants are still in the other end of a large house for instance.

Just got one of the Home Sentinel units. Will see how well it works with the mice and stink bugs before I order any more.
Set it up in the stick house to test it out first, then put it in the 5er. Boy, the cats sure did not like it at all in the house! So hopefully the bugs and mice hate it more, and stay out.
At $30 a whack, it better work good ...and if it really does as good as you say it does, Dick, I'll most likely order 3 or 4 more.
Thanks for the link Artemus.

Dryer sheets on the floor in the drawers lay them everywhere and no mice at all. learned this from all the cabin owners in the Michigan upper peninsula. you can buy the cheap Walmart brand. sometimes the electronic versions are not possible unless you have power to the unit.

Michael-- I can see you feel the pressure, you hit the post button twice! LOL
By the way, I use four of the electronic units in the building I store the Monte in during off season and have not seen a critter or proof of one at all. I do use the Fresh Cab throughout the Monte also.

Same here. I like the idea of the electronic ones, but I unplug in winter, so that's not an option. I used dryer sheets and moth balls throughout the camper and basement this past winter with good results.
Hunting friends with cabins in Maine use that technique.

We solved our problem by placing Fresh Cab in the basement, dresser and bedroom. We had no food in the unit. Fresh cab is an organic product consisting of Balsam oil and sawdust in a little cloth bag. It was made to put into combine and tractor cabs while in storage. We got ours at Menards. I've also seen it at the John Deere dealership.

Don't know if they still carry Fresh Cab, but several years ago I purchased it at Tractor Supply.
