Furnace not working on battery

We checked into one of Yellowstone's campgrounds without electricity. Figuring the furnace would work, we sure found out differently. The blower worked great, but no heat. We froze for two nights. We checked the fuses, the battery has 12.5 volts, and the furnace works great on electricity. Is there anything else we should be checking to get this furnace to work on just the battery ? We even installed our new deep cycle battery and it didn't work. Help please.

is this a new unit? has it worked before in the past? it should be hooked up to draw off the battery. when used it will draw down your battery very quickly...uses alot of juice depending on the outdoor temp.if it's a new unit under warrenty and never been used or tested, then something wasn't hooked up right.many times when they test these units prior to delivery, the are on ac power and they might not have caught the problem.let us know...keep us posted.

If it is running from the far side propane tank, try switching the regulator to the near side tank. Sometimes there is problem getting sufficient gas from the far tank to run the furnace.

Also try this. Shut off both tanks, and burn off any remaining gas at the stove top, and then shut off the burner. Then very slowly crack open the tank valves, if it is quiet, you should be able to hear the gas flowing out of the tank, let it flow slowly until you can no longer hear any flow, then open all the way.

If either of these tricks fixes the problem, let us know, and I'll try to explain what might be happening.

Well, I got the furnace fixed today. After reading several of the Forum remarks about LP and furnaces, I checked the fuses and they were okay. Then I tightened the screws on the wire below the fuses and found two of them loose. I tightened them, I think they vibrated loose while we were traveling on rough roads. And now the furnace works without electricity. Thanks for all your help.

Thanks for providing the solution. I will put this on my list of things to check if the furnace stops working.
