Where is the check valve on the water heater? The owner manual does not say anything about a check valve.....need to check to see if that is where the buzzing noise is coming from when the hot water is turned on at the faucet.

The check valve is in the outlet at the top of the heater. Check Ozz's Ozzmods, page 6

Thanks a bunch Bob. I have been having trouble with an occaisonal piece of debris getting into the water valve on our toilet and causing a flooded bathroom. I suspected it might be the check valve on the heater, now I'm certain.

Well I removed the check valve today and saw nothing there that would be putting debris into the water lines. Back to the drawing board.

Have you checked the water valve on the toilet.

Charlie, what does the debris look like? You might be able to trace it back to its source, but it should be something in the cold water line, I would think. As Bill suggests, it could be the toilet valve, too.

The toilet valve has been replaced. Off and on I am getting debris in faucet screens and sometimes a piece will lodge in the toilet valve and create a small trickle that eventually fills the toilet. It looks like a thin plastic? film. Ozz's pics of the check valve showed some black debris but there's nothing in the check valve like that. I located an inline water strainer/filter made by Shurflo and as soon as we settle in one place for a few weeks I'll order it then see if I can figure out some way to put in the line going to the toilet

Is it your annode rod coming apart? We had a lot of trouble with our home tank as the bulit in rod was degrading it would send debris into the system and block the faucet aerators. Just a thought

If it IS plastic, it could be coming from an outside hose deteriorating, or maybe the pump diaphragm, but that would get into the water heater, too. A filter sounds like the best short-term solution, and it would at least help reduce the possibilities.

That's a good possibility, but I thought the water inlet had a screen on it (I don't remember for sure and the trailer isn't here right now). Do you have a whole house filtration system on the water supply line?

Charlie--If I remember correctly, I found a small piece of white plastic in my hot water line that was from the backflow prevented that is installed on the hot water heater outlet to prevent winterizer from entering the system. Our backflow preventer failed after about 3 years and I had it replaced under our extended warranty. It fixed our problem.
