Dust collectors

Yesterday I looked up and could see every rafter in the ceiling. There was a gray stripe from wall to wall. Got out our stool and a damp rag and it wiped off. Have any of you had this problem? What causes it?

Treecounter, Yes a number of us have had that happen if you do a search for stripes on ceiling I think you will find the answer. For me it was caused from burning candles. I use one of the swiffer thingys with a wet rag sprayed with some of that orange cleaner and it workes great.

Ours was also from burning candles. In fact, that earlier thread was probably one we started about this same problem. Ours was extremely difficult to clean up. we got it pretty well but the texture ceiling was tough to clean, even with a stiff brush. If I look hard I can still see some of the residue.

We tried the 'smokeless' candles but that was only marginally better. Finally we went to a candle warmer that melts the wax and provides the same candle scent but without smoke.
