INTERNET CONNECTIONS
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO ACCESS MY EMAIL AND SURF THE WEB WHILE ON THE ROAD?
I'VE BEEN GOING TO THE LIBARY AND USING THEIR COMPUTERS BUT WOULD RATHER USE MY LAPTOP IN MY RV IF POSSIBLE.

Get Verizon cellular service and the mobile office kit and use your cell phone as a modem. Works for a lot of us on the road.

The above is the cheap method. But if you want to spend some big bucks like around six thousand dollars you can have a MotoSAT DataStorm F1 dish installed atop your rv. The whole system is completly automatic. Happy rving....

I got Verizon and use it to connect my iBook for email and web access. It has been about 2 to 4 times faster than dial up and I only pay for the minutes. I keep them low because the plan I have includes long distance and roaming anywhere in North America but at the cost of a lot of minutes. I may someday switch to the America's Choice which gives lots of minutes.

I use Alltel. I bought a motorola connectivety kit and hook it up to my portable. Slow but it works. No increase in fee.
More and more campsites are going wireless. Most of your major truck stops have wireless. So make sure you have a wireless card in your portable. Not too expensive.

hi
Netzero is a good ISP when traveling they have lots of access #'s all over just go to the netzero.com site and download the free version to sign on with and you get 10 hrs a month free its works well for us on the road and costs nothing you can use the office in most RV parks to plug the laptop too. if you reach the 10 hr mark it will let you know cause you cant sign on til the first of the following month

I have a wireless card in my powerbook. I was stopping at Starbucks, Flying J and Kinkos but these all cost money. Recently, a friendly truckdreiver pointed me to
http://www.wififreespot.com/
This lists a lot of free wifi locations. I am sending this from a Beaner's Coffee shop in Lansing MI. All free -- and fast.

Thank you for the WiFi information. I'll be trying the Mobile Office Kit from Verizon but if that proves unsuccessful I'll be trying your idea and possibly Netzero suggested by another party. Thanks again

I have the Motosat Datastorm. 1 word FANTASTIC
It is a little pricey but being a fulltimer for me it is well worth it. We keep in touch with our son's in the military via email, Pay all our bills online, make our campsite reservations online, find interesting things to do in the places were at, etc etc All on the road at anytime. It's as fast as my home cable internet was. I paid 3995.00 plus installation. Its 99.00 a month for always on unlimited connect time.
