Travel Assist by good sam club

Has anyone used this? It is for medical problems while traveling and includes someone to drive the trailer/truck home, fly you home, etc.

Haven't used it (thank goodness) but signed up for it last fall during a cross-country trip. My wife cannot drive the truck and trailer combo, and being 70 it gave us peace of mind that if a medical condition required us to terminate a trip, we could get the rig home. It seems like a bargain to us.

Ok, I'll show my ignorance. Tried the search function and didn't get anything useful. What's MOCTAP and how do we find out about it?

I apologize. Wrong reference. I've tried to find information again that I've read before, where MOC members step up to help those who have health emergencies on the road. Maybe someone will come along and address the issue.

I called my mentor, and I was reassured that the folks who volunteer on MOCTAP will help you move your rig if you have an emergency. Jim Fischer will be along to help.

I think that we need to make our members more aware of MOCTAP. I signed up to be a volunteer years ago but haven't heard anything about it since. Is there any way to make it more prominent?

I also signed up years ago and haven't heard anything. If anyone is wondering about it or never heard, there is a listing on the MOC home page MOCTAP. You can sign up there. Wish they had its own folder in the area most ppl go to when they check out different posts.

We have gotten information from GS about the travel assist program before and were not interested. We are lucky to have a couple sons that could probably help us out moving the rig if we had medical problems away from home. But is sure would be a good volunteer program for the MOC to have since there are so many members. Maybe it should have its own main section so it can stay current.

Good Sam Travel Assist is much more than returning your rv. We had it for a few years and felt it had a lot to offer for the price

Please don't misunderstand, I think GS is a good product. I was just trying to shine a light on MOCTAP because I didn't think many were aware.

What I don't see in that package is the initial trip to the hospital. If you have to be airlifted, it can cost a fortune. The GS package says it covers airlifts if needed to a second hospital, but not for the initial hospital. I do like the rest of the package though.

As we sometimes travel outside the US, we have MASA http://www.masaus.com/bio.html

They will provide ambulance, ground, helo, or fixed wing as needed, Provide a driver or pay the expenses of a family member to return the rv along with family members, including grandchildren and pets.

Ok troops, if you go to the main page of the Forum, the one with Big Sky-- Montana-- Mountaneer Edition at the top, and page down to nearly the bottom you will find the info on MOCTAP. It well you how to join and become an area volunteer for MOC and what it entails. I too have signed up for it but have never heard anything back on it. I really think that if a MOC member is having problems, either medical or mechanical, and they get onto the Forum and let the members know they will have responses back for a helping hand. That's just what MOC is all about! We've offered numerous times to helpout a fellow MOC member when they had a problem and have helped them as much as we could. Have not had to hookup to their Monte or drive their unit home or to a campground yet but would do it if and when the time comes.
In respects to the original post, We have not enrolled in the Good Sam Travel Assist Program because we have to many friends here in MOC that would help us out on getting our unit back home or wherever needed in case some medical emergency arose(at last we hope we have those friends . Maybe Mynabird or HoboBob will jump in on this thread and tell us if they had or have this plan since Bob was air lifted to the hospital about two or three years ago at Q but I don't know if they have the this particular plan or another or not.

A good example. Ross, our Australian friend asked for help. We stepped up and have his rig stored at no charge to him. Much to our surprise he and Chris are here for a short visit between radiation/chemotherapy and some serious surgery that she will have to have. He has asked us to sell his rig for him as she will not be able to travel for a year after surgery. We will do all we can to accommodate him. This all occurred because of the MOC and my/our relationship with the MOC.

2X on what Jim just said and tell them they are welcome to any of the MOC activities anywhere anytime when they get back here after Chris' surgery. Tell them also that they both will be in our prayers!

Am I missing something here? First two posts are about GS then DQDICK asks about MOCTAP. Seems like there must be a missing post.

Yes , forgive my error. I removed my original post referring to MOCTAP because afte Dicks comment, I went to forums looking for it and was not able to find. Later I added the other info after talking with Fischer.
