Camping Club

Is Passport America a club worth belonging to as long as there are participating CG's on your route or in your area? It sounds like you can recoup your menmership fee quite quickly, is this true? Thanks.

We joined recently before heading to FLA and used it enough on the way down and back to recoup our cost. As said there are restrictions specific to each park. Some it can only be used during weekdays, others only several days, most won't give the discount during any Holidays. It works good for overnighters when traveling, provided there is one within a reasonable distance from your route.

We've belonged to Passport America for several years. Since 2003, I think it was. Occasionally we find a nice park that takes PA and will accept it for as long as we want to stay. But the vast majority do have limitations. Still, we figure it take us a month to six weeks out of the year to recoup the membership cost. But, keep in mind we are fulltimers. At today's average rv park prices it will take 3 or 4 nights to recoup the cost.

Also, you will find some very nice parks, some real pits, and everything inbetween. But, for us, we've figured out when we are just overnighting we don't care how nice the park is. We just park, have dinner, watch tv for awhile or read, then go to bed, get up in the morning and leave. For that we just want to have good power and water and feel safe.

I am considering non-renewal for PA this year, even though I did recoup the initial cost. Living in Florida, there are many restrictions on PA campgrounds here in the winter time due to crowding. We have better luck using it in the summer months (May to November). That said, we will probably drop it this year as our travel plans include sitting in one spot for three months beginning June, then moving to another for three, then back to storage for occasional use in the winter months.

We've been members for a loooong time and have no difficulty recouping our fees every year. A stay at Artillery Ridge in Gettysburg Pa for 7 nights saves you $17.50 a night or $122.50 for the week. There are good parks and not-so-good parks, but those not-so-good ones we use as overnighters as does Reigle.
Now, the sales pitch, if you use a members number when signing up, that member get a $10 voucher towards their next renewal, therefore, if you would use my number, I would be very grateful. Or if you have a friend already in PA, use their number for the same results.
But just in case, my number is RGI-0133942.
Either way, I think you will enjoy the benefits from PA.

Emmel, I wrote your number down. I haven't joined yet, but I am further encouraged with your reply. One of our favorite CG's in Eagle River, Wi. is a PA member, so I think it would pay off right there. Thanks!

We use Passport America, Good Sam, KOA and Escapees. We wouldn't be without any of them and always get our investment back quickly each year.

Campfire42, here's the PA website link for your favorite WI campground. Looks like they'll do the PA rate for all nights except during special events.

http://passportamerica.com/campgroun...inescampground

And here's the "restrictions" section..
Open May 1st through October 31st. P.A. discount is not valid during special events. Please mention Passport America at the time of making a reservation. *Rate is for two adults with up to 4 children, $5.00 for each additional adult. Water/Electric Sites 30 amp: $25.00, P.A.: $12.50. Water/Electric sites 50 amp: $28, P.A.: $14. Premium Full Hookup Sites (water/sewer/electric 50 amp): $35.00, P.A.: $17.50

We got our return on investment in 4 nights. After that it doesn't matter if we stay at one or not, we are even. However, like others, sometimes it is a weeks stay, other times it's just for the night.

We are PA, KOA, and GS. I need to check into Escapee's.

Thank you for all of your replies. Yesterday we joined Passport America for a year. Emmel, I'm sorry but I couldn't use your number for referral. I tried and they kicked me to another section of the country to register, and I didn't think I wanted to do that. After much messing around, I did get to use Hi-Pines CG as a referral, so they might get something out of that. Now to go camping!!
