What's up with this TV

It ended up being quite funny this weekend. The TV was acting up and not giving any sound on the stations. Finally I got it to work,sometimes. What I mean is that it would work during the show or game but when the commercials came on, no sound then it would work again with sound when the show or game came on.
Is this the new HD stuff that is suppose to eliminate all old TVs. If so this isn't all together bad. Watch the show then the commercials go silent. I can put up with this.
I'm going to check it this week. It also may be a great excuse to buy a flat screen. Only time will tell.
