Things you never thought you'd see

A neighbor up the street from our RV home base decided to take the one day break from rain and mow his lawn. Zero radius turn mower buried it's self trying to make a turn on a down slope, had to be pulled out with a chain and now it's raining hard again on a day when rain wasn't in the forecast.

Our grass was so high due to rain and soggy yard our Mower bogged down when I tried to cut it. It is now doing it again. I can not even walk out to the barn to get at the mower.

I recently bought a ZTR mower, and quickly found out that they are not great on saturated lawns. Only one drive wheel is powered at any given time. And if that wheel is in a very wet area, it starts to spin. Not good for the grass.

But, hey. We have had 2 days of sunshine with several more in the forecast. Quite a change from the last two months. I get to try the new toy on dry grass.

Today was our 100% forecast dry day this week, all others have a chance of rain with Wednesday night, Thursday and Sunday having severe weather possible. So with no chance of rain we only got 1/2" and of course the sun is now out.

What is this thing you call "mower"? Seems that I can remember having one of those but I try to forget bad memories!

Finally got both yards/acreages mowed! Had the niece mow part of the Omaha yard and I finished it when the weather finally broke. Now out at the farm and got the 4-5 acres here mowed. Didn't mow one section last time and that was a mistake! It took me as long to mow that acre than it did the rest of the farm area. Won't be doing that again! Got a zero turn at each location and sure does make things easier but need a smaller push mover to get around the buildings. Have to look into one! Forecast is rain again for the next couple of days but should be good for a week or so before the Central Plains Rally but will hit them all again before the Rally just to make sure I'm not "putting up hay" when the CPRR is over!

I actually go out to my moms and run her riding John Deere for a couple of hours, then I can keep my license for mower operation that I initially let lapse when we sold everything and went full time.

My grandparents often turned cows into their yard, the grazing would leave gaps and manure, but the cows never got stuck.

Oklahoma City broke the all time record for rain in one month in May with over 19 inches
