refrigerator

We put our camper in storage when we leave to go home and I have always left the fridge open to dry out so as to prevent mold from forming. Does anyone know of a different way to store the fridge so I don't have to climb over the table to open the fridge. We have a model 3280RL with the island kitchen and where we store the fifth wheel, there isn't enough room to open it up again and I don't like the door swinging when we close it up again. Any suggestions??
Thanks so much

Don't know if these suggestions will work for you or not. When we are not using the 5er and the reefer is turned off, we place a paper plate filled with charcoal briquets inside. We also leave those new design Baking Soda boxes (the ones that the sides tear off for more exposure) in both the reefer and the freezer --leave them in all the times. So far no mold or odor or funny stuff growing inside. We do take the precaution of wiping out the freezer and reefer after we have turned them off and the freezer defrosts. We didn't do that the first time and came back to standing water in the freezer

Filling the shelves with crumpled newspaper also works. That's what I do and haven't had any problems.

Ditto NJ Hillbilly's suggestion of the newspaper, been using for a number of years, never any smell, dampness, dankness, mold, nadda icky stuff. Also use in my coolers, etc.

Also check the Search engine here on MOC, this has been discussed at least one other time, and there might be some other good suggestions there!!

Happy Trails.

I saw the crumpled newspaper sugguestion on RV Today as a way for eliminating the mold problem. Let us know if you try this and it works.

thanks for all the comments. I have heard about newspaper but I was not sure if I can put this in cold fridge or if I must wait till it is room temp again. We shut fridge down just before leaving and it is cold and freezer is still very cold. Will newspaper work then?
Thanks
mas
