FRESH WATER SEALED SYSTEM
This my answer to Keystones "Fresh Water Sealed System". Which means, when boondocking, there's no way to add water to the fresh water tank and no way to sanitize the fresh water tank.

Can't be upside down unless the Monte went "wheels up" and is sitting on it's back or roof!

Yes it is. I tried to use something cheap like a drill powered pump, but it did'nt create enough pressure to open the check valve. So I went with a middle range cost wise Flojet water pump. It will pump in 7gal. of water in something less than 2min.

Now I am confused! What is the sealed system, and why can't you add fresh water to it?

When camping where I know I can't hook to water within hose length, I take a 30 gallon plastic drum with me and do exactly the same thing. When up north at the property in the fall, I fill just before leaving for the week, then bring fresh back the next week.

Through Keystones infinite wisdom, and crazy engineering and design, on my model and year, there is no "gravity fill" port to fill and sanitize the fresh water tank. The only way to fill is to use a hose connection to the convenience center with either pressurized city or well water. Keystone says the fresh water tank doesn't need to be sanitized because it is a "sealed system". Their words, not mine.

Interesting what you folks have to go through. My 2013 343RL HC water/sanitation compartment looks identical to the photographs. But on the rear left panel, almost to the end of the trailer, is a lockable 5x5" door, behind which is the standard gravity fill for fresh water.
I wonder if Montana forgot that option on yours, or there were way too many complaints so it was reintroduced, at least in my 2013 model.

You say your "HC water/sanitation" is the same as pictured. Not sure what "HC" is and as far as the sanitation part is, that's the problem, I don't have a means to sanitize.
Not sure what you mean by an "option". Did not know Montana offered the gravity fill port as an option.

I thought all had a gravity fill. Mine does. As far as sanitizing the fresh water tank, wait till you see all the green slime that comes out the first time you hit it with chlorine bleach and pull the drain plug. It'll make you a believer.

Closed System or No sanitation needed reminds me of all the labels I read in the grocery store that are also not true: Free-range chicken, Organic, Home grown, etc.

It was in 2013 rigs started appearing without the fresh water fill. The new rigs that I have seen do not have the fresh water fill. It is a closed system as Samiterry has stated. The way Samiterry does it or something similar is probably the easiest way for now.
I have observed many other brands with the closed system also. So Montana is not alone in doing this.

Wow. They may not be alone, but that makes them ALL wrong! If the water at the source has any bacteria issues or algae spores, or what ever, and it goes in your tank, then it can grow easily. If there is no easy way to disinfect the system then you are screwed. As far as adding a pump, Keystone should pay for it since it is their design flaw. Yeah, THAT will happen...

I hope someone comes along with a simple mod that will convert the vent into a fill and vent location. We only stay where there is public water for putting water in fresh tank. Also, we learned how to sanitize the fresh tank by putting bleach in the water hose then sending it to the fresh tank from the great folks here on the MOC.

I think they dropped the gravity fill When they changed the design which came out in Sept 2013.
Our August 2013, "Old Style" has the gravity fill, which I am thankful for.

Well, just finished sanitizing the fresh water tank and lines. I feel alot better knowing that all is sanitized wether necessary or not, sealed system or not. Gave it an extra shot of bleach since it has never been done before, and not knowing what went into that tank before it was (sealed) installed.
