Sofa and Recliners
Our perfect RV must have the recliners directly facing the TV in the living room. We went with the 3750FL because the J-couch is facing the TV.
Has anyone with the 3402 and other rear living models switched their sofa and recliner locations so the recliners face the TV? We did this in our old Alpenlite and it worked out fine.
Any problems? Was the fit OK? Could you add a small table between the recliners and still have good access to the table and chairs?
Thanks in advance.

I tried it in my 3582 and the chairs were just to close together for me. I guess if we pushed the DR table all the way forward it would have been ok.

We have a 3455, and did just that!! We have a small table, I think just 10" wide between the chairs. We also like that the couch is under the window, so as to enjoy the view (when we have one!!) Our couch fits fine when the slides are in, so we travel with it that way. I have heard of others that can't shut their slides with the couch in that position. A couple of suggestions have been to put the furniture on easy glides to move it back into 'travel position' or flip the couch on its back when traveling. We've never had to use those suggestions, but they might be something to think about. We are very happy with our arrangement.

I have a 3750 and the sofa is about 6 inches above the floor on the slide out . I was going to replace it with a lazy boy recliner, but I am afraid my head would hit the ceiling in the slide

I thought the furniture in the front living room unit was built in and solidly attached to that platform, making replacement with new store bought furniture pretty difficult. The platform covers the slide mechanisms.
And, yes, I know, thinking is a very dangerous thing for ole Carol to do.

We moved our couch in our 358 RLT 2013 Mountaineer to the rear and put the chairs in the slide by the table. Sofa needs to be past the window treatment or remove the bottom attachment to give it more room. We love ours this way, looks so much better and can watch tv in the recliners facing the tv and lie on the sofa facing the tv. Don't know why they don't put them this way to start with. We have no problem with the slides closing like this.

We have a 3402 rl and see no need to switch them around but we could, the TV is on a pull out slide and it angles any way you want it ours is aimed right at our face 5 ft away sitting in the recliners in the back ...NICE!

I wanted to do the same on our Mountaineer 324rlq but the sofa is too deep to clear the slides if put in the position occupied by the recliners. The only solution I came up with for a while was to eliminate the sofa air bed and build one in or perhaps find a couch that would fit. After thought about resale, I decided not to do that.

We switched the couch to the back window and recliners to the slide in our 3455sa and luv it. Our 3900fb Big Sky will have theatre seating, a double recliner with a sort of console between, across from TV and a couch in back window. It is new furniture and newest update.

We have a 2011 3400rl and switched our the recliners and the couch. The only thing we had to do to make it work was to take off those little metal things at the bottom of the curtains.
We put the same table back between the recliners that was there when they were under the window.

Joe:
Problem is that L shaped sofa on the drivers side. I ordered mine without it and have a lazy boy recliner facing the tv directly. The recliner fits between the two sofas when the slides are closed with the recliner placed on the floor with the footrest against the floor and the back riding over the seat of one of the sofas. I would think you could swap out the L sofa for a regular one if you could get by with one recliner. DW loves the sofas and doesn't care about a recliner.

Thanks for all the comments and ideas. Yes, Bingo....you guessed it. Our family has recently enlarged and the RL plan may be better for us. I want a Montana, but I do not want to have to settle for less. The Redwood 36RL has the recliners facing the TV and those sitting at the table or couch can see it also. Will wait until next years' models and talk to Keystone at the rally.
