Hopefully the fires will be out by then. The smoke ruined a lot of viewing opportunities. Lots of good hot springs there. We enjoyed Radium Hot Springs. Yoho Campground was a gateway to Taquamegon falls, I believe. They were great. Lots of great hikes. Columbia Icefield, Athabaskan Falls were also great.

Be weather aware. We ran thru a fairly significant snow storm on the ice fields parkway the first week of August one year. Didn’t expect that. Not towing and only lasted a few miles so we didn’t have too much problem. But it was enough to cover the highway a couple inches and could have made towing a little dicey, especially since it was wet snow and packed down to ice quickly.

We are currently in Banff Alberta. The first week we were lucky. Sky was clear. Took lots of pictures of the mountains. Hiked up Tunnel Mountain.
Yesterday we rode the gondola to the top of Sulphur mountain. You could hardly see Banff below. Smoke from BC wildfires drifting in.
We leave Wednesday for Jasper. Looking forward to hiking the glaciers and touring the Skywalk.
Keep an eye on your propane. There are few places that actually refill propane tanks. Many places advertise propane but that is for 20lb tank swaps.

If planning a stay at any National or Provincial park - beware. I tried booking in to Banff and Jasper NAt. parks. They open reservations either 90 or 120 days in advance. Now I was staying in July and I could find 1 or 2 sights open, but didn't get it payed for withing 20 minutes, so it went away. And I was on the website about 10 minutes before it opened! A lodge reservation person (on the phone) said they had something like 14000 reservations booked that day. This is for all parks in Canada tho.
Anyway, good luck.
