Black tank rinser

We just got back from our maiden voyage. One obsticle I ran into was not having an outside fitting to hook-up the garden hose to rinse the black tank. I had that on our previous unit. I'm looking for any input from you great people for what works best, and how easy it might be to install. I don't want to run a hose thru the 5er.

I use a Flush King which connects to the sewer outlet and allows one to back flush the tank.

Beakyfudd, Welcome to the forum. It would help to know which unit you have so we can adequately answer your question.

We have an 07' 307RKD. I believe the tank is under the basement.

Fudd, would not there be a black tank flush out located in the water convenience station? Thought that was standard equipment in the 2007 models.

Steve, if the water convenience station you are referring to is where the main inlet is, then no. That is located at the left rear corner of the 5er. My black tank and the drain valve handles are located in the basement.

We had a tornado tank rinsing system installed, as our Mountaineer came without a rinse system also. I had the dealer do the install, but it looks pretty simple to do. I had a problem with the vacuum breaker on it leaking when flushing and had to remove the belly membrane to get to the tornado. It has a screen on the inlet, and trash had gotten in the screen and was causing back pressure. So, if you install one, put one of those screens in the hose connector and save yourself some misery.

Don't know about the newer Mountaineer models, but the older ones don't have a convenience center on them. Our water connection is on the back driver's side of the fiver. Little box with hose connector and fill inlet for fresh water tank.

Willie, thanks, I will check out that system. I believe our con. center is the same as yours.

Well, I installed a spray nozzle type rinser. No moving parts to worry about. It took a little while, and I almost knocked myself out on the bedroom slideout, but it's in and it works. I installed the hose inlet inside the basement, next to the grey tank pull lever since there was a hole in the frame rail I could route the tubing thru. Onto the next improvement.
