Black Water Tank Flush
I can't get the black water tank flush to work. After hooking up my hose to the outside connection and turning on the water, it acts like it starts to spray in the tank and then instantly shuts down. It is like a check valve closes or something. Can anyone shed any light on this problem?

cmp-shooter, Yes, I did have the black tank dump valve open. The spray used to work either closed or open, but if closed, you need to watch that you don't fill it too far and have it come out the vent.

So far as I know there is no check valve in the lush line. You are right, you can keep the black tank valve closed but DO NOT get distracted. I know from experience what happens. Did it twice and it doesn't necessarily come out of the vent and it ain't fun cleaning up.
I know you said it worked before but you never know. Have you checked for any possible kinks in the line?

You should look for a vent under your bathroom sink. When that vent fails it will not let the flush work at all. I removed mine and re-piped it in the storage area with a PVC in-line shut off valve. Now the black tank flush works great.

DHENRY, Thanks for that advice. Sounds like that may be it. I am not sure where it is on a 2955RL, but will look tomorrow.

Like Glenn I do not know of a check valve on our camper late 06 3400 with the docking station. Sure would like to know, for sure, if there is one and where it is as we are sure it will fail sooner or later.

Doug,
Do you have any pictures of the repipeing of the vent into the basement you did? That sounds like a good project.

I looked high and low in my 2955RL and canot find a vent (or anti-siphon valve) anywhere easily accessible. I guess it is behind walls. does anyone know where it is on a 2955RL?

Check in the wall between the shower and the pantry. There may be an access panel in the pantry to service the shower hardware or try spotting it thru the sliding door opening. You will have to look carefully to see it if it's there. Thats where it's at in our trailer.

On my 2955 it is under the bathroom sink. I hit it a few time with a screwdriver. It was just stuck

Our 3400 has an access panel in the pantry, like Skip's 3500 does. There will be two lines coming to gether into a "u turn." The valve is the u-turn, if that makes any sense. On older Montanas it was under the bathroom vanity but on the new ones it has moved.

I took the access panel off and didn't see a thing. Put my arm in and felt around - nothing. Got to wondering why the panel was there. I will try again and also look in the sliding door as suggested by Skip.

As I posted previously, our black tank flush has quit working as well. The paperwork that came with our rig says that there is a check valve in the line, but doesn't say exactly where (we have a 2007 3400RL). I just assumed we would have to take it to the dealer and have it fixed under the warranty, but if I can fix it myself I would rather. Any luck yet?

I found it! The vacuum breaker/check valve was in fact behind the access panel in the kitchen pantry cabinent. When I looked earlier and couldn't find anything there, I was looking at the sliding door -DUH! Moved the door out and lo and behold there it was. I tried hitting it with a screwdriver as David suggested to unstick it, but it wouldn't budge. I will now call up Lakeview RV Supply and ask them how to fix it or get a new one. Thanks everyone for your help.

I found a valve in the cupboard beneath the bathroom sink in our 05 3400. How do I know this is conneced to the flushing operation ?
Can anyone share what is the process for clearing the valve if in fact it is stuck ??

Ken: Recently had the same problem with my 3280. Pulled off the belly pan below the black tank, right side. Located the spray fitting going into the tank and removed it. Most holes were plugged up after several years of use. Cleaned them out and re-drilled some of the holes. Now it works fine.

KenT. Thanks for the info (I think). I hope I don't have to pull the nozzle from the tank, but I am pretty sure that is where my problem is. Right now, I am going to let it soak for a week and see what happens.
