Myrtle Beach Camping

Just got back from Myrtle Beack where we stayed for six nights at the Lakewood Camping Resort. Great place, close to the ocean. We really enjoyed the place knowing that in the spring or summer, it would be packed. This time of year it was very quiet and restfull. Close to golf and the outlets....that in itself is a plus.

We have stayed there as well, usually in September, and have loved it there. On our first trip, a number of years ago with a pop-up, we noticed we were the only ones without an air conditioner. Here in New England we don't see too many air conditioners on pop-ups. We found out that in September we really didn't need one as the days were warm but the nights cooled down nicely. Also, we found that riding our bikes on the beach at night (low tide) was a great experience.

We stayed at Pirate Land a couple of times. As long as you make reservations it is very nice in Aug. also. It's nice to be able to leave your windows open and listen to the waves at night. The only thing we didn't like was all the kids on golf carts racing around.

We have stayed at all of them, if you want to get to a great place, all pull through large sites, no gold carts allowed try Myrtle Beach Travel RV Park. Great place not as large as Piratealand, Ocean lakes , or Lakewood, but a whole lot more peaceful. We have stayed at Pirateland for 2 weeks for last 4 years, this year was more than likely my last. To TOO MANY kids racing golf carts around. They have 16 year old [policy but don't enforce it. We saw several wrecks this year by kids 13 & 14 years olds. They also drive them around all hours of the night making lots of noise after midnight. Will stay at Travel Park from know on.

Doug, You do realize that Myrtle Beach is in South Carolina and not Florida.

This past May we stayed at Briarcliffe RV Resort. It is also a PassPort America park. Briarcliffe is a beautiful park and at half price it's even better. We found it to be a clean quiet campground and we will return.
