Furnace ductwork torn --
Has anyone had to replace the silver ductwork for the furnace? It's freezing here, and we're heating the storage area underneath real well. We've tried duct tape, & that soon gets hot and comes apart from the duct. Paying Camping World $109/hr. to do it seems foolish.
Any help will be appreciated.

Have you tried some of the silver metal duct tape? It is not the standard gray duct tape. You should be able to find it at a Home Depot or Lowes. If you can not find it I could send you a roll, my son owns a heating company and has plenty of it in stock.

go somewhere that sell plumbing and heating supplies and buy the silver tape that is made for sealing ductwork and flexable hoses. It is real thin and shiny but it sticks to the surface well because it is a form of aluminum.

Auto parts muffler tape! It's heat resistant enough for mufflers, so a heating duct should pose no problems.

I replaced mine in the storage compartment with the galvanized solid pipe from Lowe's before it tore.

Lowe's and Home Depot are two that come to mind where I've seen that foil tape. I've used it several different times when I've inadvertently punctured our furnace ducts.

Thanks to all of you for your help. We got the metal thin silver duct tape, and it worked just great. It sticks so well that I want to wrap all the ductwork I can see for extra strength & maybe insulation.

I tried some of the white duck tape, but everytime I picked it up it said "AFLAC". Sorry, couldn't resist....Glad you got it fixed......
