Honda or Champion Gen
I'm having trouble justifying spending over $2000 for a gen.
Is the Chanmpion gen from Tractor Supply a good deal?
Do you have the elec start on yours? It's noisey, heavy - what else?

Once you own a quiet gen, you'll be transparent to your neighbors. That Champion gen is loud...

Hard to justify not owning the one that starts every time, whether it be because of noise or money.

Honda. No contest.
I 'have' three honda generators.
An EM500 that is about 15 years old. Still works perfectly. It's currently in my sons backyard. It was old when I got it.
An EM850 that sees duty at music festivals several times a year. I am the caretaker of this one, it belongs to the festival producers. It runs 8-10 hours a day for lighting & amps. I have never has a problem starting it. It's been in use for at least 8 years that I know of. It was used before that!
A new 2000 that I got such a good deal on I couldn't pass it up. It's so quiet I can sit on it and carry on a conversation without even talking loud.
I had a different brand, one that has a name starting with an 'O' my last motorhome. It died after running less than 20 hours and cost over $100 to get running again.

You can buy a Cummins-Onan 4300 inverter generator at costco.com for $1299.00, shipping included.

I have access to a generator that I can wheel out on a cart and hook it up. It is loud and a little hard to start, but I am on 24 acres and 100 yards from the only other resident. I can't imagine being at a campsite with it and not getting stoned by neighbors.
If I ever get one, it will probably be two Honda EU 2000i units with parallel kit because I can pick the Honda up. I do not want an internally mounted unit and did not get "generator prep" on this rig.

We love our Yamaha 3000. We dry camp a fair amount and it works great for our use. we carry it on a rack at the back of our unit and have never had a problem with it.
If anything would ever happen to it I would get another without hesitation.
It 's quiet and powerful enough fro us.

JMG-- I think the Champion from TSC is a regular construction generator and you would not appreciate the sound and neither would your neighbors if you are camping next to anyone! I have two Coleman units and the bigger a Powermate 6250 is noisier but the smaller one a Powermate Pulse 1850 is set up for camping and runs much quieter. The smaller one does not have the 30amp plug like the bigger unit however.
