trip planner

I have an old Trailer Life CD Trip planner on my laptop that I dearly love. It's getting old and outdated so I decided to look for a new on to install on my laptop. I guess the new technology has eliminated this type of planner? Does anyone have any information on something new that comes on a cd to install on a laptop?

Everything I see is 4 to 5 years old or older. I use the GoodSam site. There is also a good Escapees planner on their site. There are so many good online planners that the actual software in the past was usually outdated before it ever reached a computer to be installed. I’m thinking you are probably out of luck for what you are looking for.

I am with you Dixie! I have the 2011 version and like to be able to plan trips without internet access. The internet access at rv parks is usually poor, so all the online services are a pain.

There are times we stop for the night and internet access isn't available so I go to my Trailer Life Trip Planner that's on the laptop and look at different routes and campgrounds along the way. A real life saver at times.

Do you have mobile services and a data plan? Your mobile device should be able to act as a wifi hot spot. It shouldn't require too much data for occasional use.

Dixie, I agree with every word of your posts on this thread. I still use that old Trailer Life program while planning every longer trip. Of course, I use Google Maps, RV Reviews, and my Garmin GPS, but nothing takes the place of that old Trip Planner. It helps me to view alternate routes and overnight stops in the comfort of my home office on my desktop computer.

I use Google Maps. If you know you're going to be at a place with no internet, download maps of the area you're going to so you can use it offline.

trailer life computer program

I have used this program for many years and realize that the campground portion is out of date. One of the features I really like is the one that tells me the grade level on the route I have selected. Nice to know is advance what you may be waiting for you.

I use my wife. She plans for weeks using many different assets. Then, while we are driving, she argues with the GPS lady's directions. So now I have to listen to 2 women tell me where to go.

Just make sure you tell the right one to shut up.

Check out rvtripwizzard.com. Great for planning route and stops. Also has clearance avoidance.

I like RVParky. Don't know if you can install it on a computer but it is an app I have installed on my tablet from the PlayStore. You can plan trips and save them. You can add stops at RV Parks along the way. I like that it shows low clearance. And it offers a lot of RV Parks along your route.

We use a combo of Mapquest.com and rvparkreviews, com. Been using since 2010 and has worked great

You know you can change the voice in the GPS, I believe!!! I think (mine does) you can pick a nice british accent and a male voice.

Your GPS has an off button. Does your wife?

Yes, I have changed mine to a Australian female voice. It's nice when I'm in the vehicle by myself.

No, unfortunately since she is a older model she did not have the switch option.
