cleaning products

Newbie here...Petaluma, CA...full timers for a month now. 2009 3400RL. Denise wants to know what kind of cleaning products to use for toilet; shower; sinks. I've heard all sorts of items, from bleach to common household cleaners. We really don't want to make a major mistake by using something that will damage fixtures/tanks. Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Terrie has used Soft Scrub and Lysol wipes. In the toilet, bleach related products would work against your toilet chemicals, especially the organic ones. As for the shower, most anything that's safe on glass or plastic. Congratulations, nice unit. Welcome to the forum.

Check in your manuals for cleaning cautions. Citrus based cleaners can discolor some plastics and don`t use any abrasives that will scratch the plastics. Most normal household cleaners can be used safely. Read labels to see if they warn you not to use on plastics. Bleach can also harm surfaces if used full stregth and left on too long. Rinse well. Mr Clean erasers work well on tough jobs, just remember to wet before use. Hope this helps.

I use Soft Scrub without bleach for the toilet and shower, and Mr. Clean wipes for just about everything else.
And welcome to the forum!

Welcome both to the MOC and to full timing. Congratulations on your new Montana. You have the same basic floor plan as my Big Sky. I think you will grow to love it more with time.

Rule one: Nothing with abrasives. Includes both scouring pads and scouring powder. We don't even use Mr. Clean Magic Pads on the toilet. Vinegar will dissolve deposits should you run into hard water.
Rule two: Don't use anything with chlorine bleach. It is harmful to the septic system and to the organic tank treatment chemicals.
Rule three: Relax. It ain't all that hard.

We use Sealand toilet treatment packs. Just fill up the toilet by lifting on the peddle and dissolve the packet, use your cleaning brush to clean the bowl and flush it all down the toilet. Bowl is clean, smells nice, and tank is treated all in one action every time the tanks are drained. Happy full timing.........
