Here is what worked for me: I bought a
bolt on receiver hitch for my square back bumper, added an
offset receiver adapter to get the receiver higher, then added a
receiver bike rack that holds two bikes. It is very secure and stable. The two bikes are now far enough off the ground to not risk the rack hitting the ground when entering/exiting steep driveways and it's a nice height to taking off and on the bikes.
