We got here 2/27 to start on 3/1. And as you know, the weather on the east coast has been terrible. It was cold and snowing almost all of March, so the park was very quiet, as in approaching dead quiet. Our duties are to get a list of all campers from the tags on the sites, close 3 gates and check 3 others. We are just now starting to see 39 plus campers on weekends. For 174 sites, that is not much. We have been touring the DC area every chance we get. Our duty does not start until 4PM so we have mornings and 2 days off.

For anyone wanting to visit DC, I would recommend this over the commercial campgrounds. At $16/night ($8 for seniors) it is much easier on the wallet than the $65+ at other places. There are no hookups at the sites, but water and a dump station is available. It is quiet and secluded. You would never guess that you are in the middle of a metropolitan area, 12 miles from the White House. A lot of the sites are small, but there are many that would easily take a 35 ft rig and a few for the bigger ones.

The one drawback I have found is the ticks. If you have a dog, plan on clipping it short and pulling ticks off. If you walk and stay on the pavement, no problem.

We will leave here the first of June and then we have a gig in Beech Lake W. Virginia for the summer. We are not really looking for anything this winter, but if something wonderful shows up, we will take it.
