Auto lighting oven control
Has anyone successfully converted the rv oven to an automatic lighter? My other half is on my case to get this project done- I've read about this somewhere but I can't remember where- I seem to remember that a bbq lighter is used to replace the original thermocouple in an rv oven- I need to know what is involved in this endeavor- Any info is appreciated- THANX in advance for any info- Don

I would not want to remove the thermo coupler. Many years ago I saw an ad for electronic igniters for Coleman ovens, but no recently

You could likely use any piezo style electronic lighter, but you cannot remove the thermocoupler, that is what shuts off the propane if the pilot goes out. A barbecue lighter will work. Someone on the forums has done this but not sure who it was. I plan to do the same using a barbecue lighter.
You will still have to hold the On/Off button in on Pilot until the thermocoupler reaches proper heat. You just don't have to stand on your head in limited space to light it with a match or butane barbecue lighter.

There was once a wagonmaster at Quartzsite 2013 who had both the knowledge and the skills of accomplishing this remedial task. Perhaps he could share?

Yep, Did it, all top burners and oven. Oven is the most difficult due to longer run of wire and bracket I had to fab up, got the part number and instruction on this sight somewhere. But the DW was really happy with the results, which makes it well worth while.

I would not want to do that. Some days, lighting the oven is the only exercise I get.
