Interior and Exterior Radio

Our old cougar had a radio that had speakers both inside and outside, and you could choose which ones music played through right on the receiver. Our Montana is lacking in that it has no radio, or speakers. I was wondering if anyone had added a Radio with speakers both inside and outside, and what kind of receivers, or speakers they'd recommend.

RV's with outside speakers is one of my pet peeves. It seems that I never want to listen to the same station as my neighbor or I'm not near as deaf. Sorry, didn't answer your question, but couldn't keep it zipped.

Is the AM/FM radio not built into your entertainment center as part of the DVD player. My 2012 - 3402RL is and uses all the surround sound speakers inside the unit. I don't have outside speakers and I am with dieselguy in my opinion of their use.

Are you sure there is no fm in your receiver? There is in our 2010. We have no outside speakers, but we do have an IPod with earphones that works well.

My new 2013 343RL HC has an "A" "B" and "C" setting on the amplifier. "A" is for the speakers in the living room, "B" is for the bedroom, and "C" is for outside under the awning. They can be played interdependently or in any combination.

My 2006 Outback 26RKS had speakers the played in the living area and/or in the bedroom, but not outside. So if I wanted tunes out side I used an old boombox we had for a while. Then I purchased a set of wireless speakers and transmitter that would play anything I connected to the transmitter. I used my Android phone, iPhone, iPad, and an Olympus digital sound recorder. It worked great, but I did have to set it up all the time I wanted to use it, and stow it when I was away from the trailer or underway.

Now I use that set-up to play music on our deck/patio.

Here's the set-up: Audio Unlimited SPK-VELO-003 Premium 900MHz Indoor/Outdoor Speakers 2-Piece (Black), Wally World seems to have the best price:

The samsung receiver that we have for the TV doesn't have FM. I've investigated that.

Dieselguy,
I don't want a radio to listen to all day, in fact we don't sit around outside much at all because we like to keep active. We really would like some background music for when we set up camp and break down camp. Keyword "background". It seems to make it more relaxing. I don't think I'll ever be the type to sit outside watching TV or radio loudly and annoying my neighbors. Was looking for ideas if anyone has mounted any marine speakers outside. Even ONE speaker would be enough. It was just a feature that we had on our Cougar that was pretty nice.

The Samsung receiver in my 3750FL has a FM setting and is tied into the amplified Wingard OA antenna. This is for the inside only. If you want outside you would have had to spec the outside entertainment center. It has a Jenson FM/AM/DVD player in it and a 32" flatscreen TV.

Our Samsung receiver also has the radio built in with the DVD player. The DVD player will also play music CD's through the surround sound system. As mentioned, starting with the 2012 models there was an optional outdoor system. I would not see any great difficulty with adapting any stereo system to play through outside marine type speakers provided the ssytem is equipped with alternate speaker selections and connections. I would recommend if you go this route, that you use outdoor box speakers unless you want to cut into the rig. If you do elect to do the latter, I would recommend using 3m 5200 adhesive to insure that the installation is waterproof. Wiring may be a challenge unless you can fish the speaker wires beneath the rig and route them up to the fm receiver location. Keep in mind the outer wall studs are aluminum so a horizontal wiring run is practically impossible. Sounds like it would be a heck of a lot simpler carrying a small radio type boombox with you and using it outside though.

Our DVD had a radio that was not worth having
I installed a car radio in the entertainment center and then installed good inside and outside speakers
I don't turn them on outside ever often.
And I do agree with Dieselguy, last week some SOB thought everybody wanted to hear his music

The big thing I miss about my Wildcat was the sound/entertainment system, 12V. In order to listen to music while boondocking, I have to either use my inverter or run the genie. With the great advances in audio equipment I'm planning on installing some type of 12V audio system for off grid use.

Ditto...same for O/S TVs.

I bought a Sirius/XM "boombox" to go and radio head. If paid by the year the subscription in about $8/month or less. Works on 110 VAC, 12VDC or batteries. Pulg it into the outlet in the right side storage compartment. Box came with a remote antenna and 50' of cable. Box is only about 12"long, maybe 8" tall and 3" thick (slightly curved).
