Bathroom Rust Stains

We are getting 2 rust stains that run down the inside of my porcelain toilet. What cleaner can I use that won't damage the seals or holding tanks to get that rust removed? And if any one uses water filters to keep the rust and water odor out, which ones are the best? We camped at a place where the WATER was AWFUL, Well water. We would like to protect our Monty from this happening again.

Thanks,
Sharon

Know what you are talking about, lime build up. Found this a year ago and wouldn't be with out it: OdoBan "Shower Control" it is an organic acid cleaner, easy to use. Cleans that Pipe below the toilet too. Tried the "kitchen control" and wasn't as impressed as the Shower Control. Home Depot about $12 quart spray bottle. Goes a long way. Hope this helps.

I'm not a gal, but occassionally have tendancies -

Anyway - Iron-Out (available Target - Wall-Mart - etc) will remove the rust, instantly. Its safe for porecelan, plastic, but I have not idea on the environment.

Our hot water tank was going bad and it first started showing up in the dishwasher and shower head. A new hot water tank and iron out cured everything.

We always use a double filter system similiar to what Glenn Adams uses, wouldn't be without it. We have camped in some pretty rusty water areas (Marquette, MI, Boston, MA) and we had no rust. When we got home I took apart the filters and could not believe the crud inside. Iron out is a good product to remove rust from just about anything. Stacy

We have "clear iron" in our well water where "Bella" resides...however, it turns to rust stains over time...Iron Out has been what we've used for years.
