2011 F350 Ford

We are seriously considering purchasing a 2011 F350 with the new 6.7 engine. We hear a lot of good things about it.

If you have one, would appreciate your input. Any problems, mileage? Thanks.

No problems out of mine and gobs and gobs of power. Diesel is the only way to fly IMHO. Per some buds running diesels dont skimp on the maintainence. Change those fuel filters every 10k miles!

According to the instruments I get about 16mpg not towing. I dont have a monty yet so I dont know what it gets milage wise towing. I would try to find one with the camper package and the 5th wheel hitch prep package. I will say that a crewcab and long bed make this thing a pretty long truck if your not used to it!

You also might want to look at the f450 as from what I hear they turn a little tighter.. but I have no first hand expirence with that.

Please reduce the size of your photo to comply with MOC picture policy. Thank you, RVWheels Should be better now... sorry bout that.

Hey Ren... What are the two square holes in the middle of your front bumper? Is that a dual hitch receiver in your front bumper? Would you please enlighten us on that?

What is the differential ratio on your truck? I have read better numbers on the mpgs for that engine and truck, but I do know the diff can have a big bearing on that.

Pretty well all the SRW F350s are running either 3.31 or 3.55 gears. DRW gears are limited to 3.73 on the 350s and 4.30 on the 450s.
The F450s are now running 17 inch wheels instead of the 19.5s. 17s give a higher speed rating yet lower load rating per tire??
Test drove one (Lariat 350 SRW) on Monday with 3.55 gears; nice truck all around; very quiet!
Will stay with mine for a year or two. 2011s are still job 1 trucks and I am sure there will be some changes in the next few months with fine tunning.

The square hole you see is a driving/fog lamp, the center thing is a licence plate bracket

The two square holes are just holes in the license plate frame... nothing special to write home about....

The rear differental gearing in mine is 3.73 to 1. It tachs around 2200rpm at 75mph. The f-450 has a 4.30 to 1 ratio and, if I remember the ford towing guide its fifth wheel towing capacity is 24,400 where my f-350 is 21,300. I really like the fact the the rails for the 5ver hitch are already installed.

Hope that helps ya.

8e3k0.. ford is currently producing Job two trucks as we speak. My truck is a job two as well. The easiest way to tell on a job2 f350 drw, is the 13300 gvwr. If it is 13000 then its a job 1. F450 job2 trucks also have the 13300 gvwr.

Ford did release an article yesterday boasting a 17500 bumper pull towing capacity up from 16000... and a more upgraded frame but I dont know if it will increase its gvwr... common sense seems to think it would, but I dont know.

Link to article.

Nice looking truck, REN...should be able to easily tow any Montana you end up with.

LOL, I see now that it is the license plate front holder. This truck is pretty new and would not have the license plate yet, doh! I like those chrome front hooks and the fact they put the auxiliary driving lights (fog lamps) at the lower corners of the bumper immediately below the headlights (I think that's what those are). Awesome!!! It's so big it doesn't fit in the driveway....

You could have told me it was for a "Northeastern Duodenous Hitch Company's Duplexing Hitch Pneumatic Reciprocating Dozer Adapter" and I would have believed you.

I have about about 15K mi on my 2011 SRW F350 most of it pulling our 3400RL and i love it. Plenty power especially on the lower end. I get 10.5 MPG av towing and 18 HWY 16 town. the manual selection on the auto Xmission is great on down hill runs. Rollie

Thanks for the compliments guys! I do love these newer trucks! Even if you do have to pour some more slab to get them in the drive way!

Love mine so far. Got about 18,000 miles on it. Get about 15.5 to 16 around town, 18 or so on the highway and 10.5 pulling the Monty. All the power you will ever need.

I have the '09 F-450, crew cab, full bed, DRW, 4.3 rear, tow, plow, off-road packages. It does have the 24K tow capacity mentioned earlier and is 8700 lbs. empty. About the only option I don't have is the electric cab heater for the first 10 minutes on a winter morning. I pull a 3750FL (12K empty) with absolutely no problems. My only regret was getting talked into the 4.3 rear by an RV buddy. I was looking at 18K lb trailers at the time before I stumbled upon the Tana with the entertainment room. The consequence is a truck that gets 10 MPG empty downhill with a tail wind. Towing is 8.5 to 9.5 depending on how big a rush I'm in. I actually think this is more economical in the 65 mph zone, but I haven't done enough testing yet with a Scangage I'm still trying to get dialed in correctly. I think the 3.73 rear would still give plenty of tow capacity for and of the Montana's and improve fuel effeciency by 3 or 4 mpg.
On the safety side, I've been through a couple of heavy storms, and some interstate at 70mpg and don't even notice the trailer behind. 18 wheelers aren't an issue either - no noticable sway at all.
It's very comfortable. The only issue with the cab is our '03 Dodge 2500 had much more effective use of storage under and behind the rear seat. I haven't looked to see if the '11 has improved.
