New hobby - Making briar pipes, as shown

I recently got tired of paying the big bucks for a pipe to smoke, so I decided to start making my own. It's enjoyable and I get a custom-made pipe for about $35 or so.

1st pipe

2nd pipe

3rd pipe

Very nice. Had you done any wood carving before you made the pipes and do you have a favorite wood you like to work with?

Nice work. My uncle (now deceased) did wood carving and made beautiful things including pipes (he didn't smoke). Looks like it is a good hobby for RVing.
Happy trails...................

Thanks for the positive comments from everyone.
Nailbender, I never carved before. I use a coping saw, a Dremel tool, some files and a lot of sandpaper. All my pipes are made from briar wood from around the Mediterranean. It is extremely hard and dense.
Parrothead, I hope it will be good for on the road. I plan to mount my vise and my polishing motor on one piece of wood which can then be clamped to a picnic table.
Thanks again to all.
Larry
