Montana owners who don't know about MOC

At the recent MOC Mid Atlantic rally, we had 26 Montana's as part of the rally, but we had another 5 Montys that were in the same park. we talked to several of them. Some had not heard of the MOC so we educated them and invited them to join.

Oddly, we found some who were MOC forum members but didn't know about the region rallies. It seems that they would view the forum down to the Naional Rally section, then see the archive of the National rally section then stop. We told them to look to the bottom to see the regional rally information.

Maybe we should move the Regional rally section ahead of the archive section.

People are so overloaded with information these days, you have to make it very simple to get their attention.

I'm one of those that doesn't dig too deep into the MOC pages. I have certain sections that I routinely look at, but when it comes to finding current MOC rallies, I guess they're down at the bottom somewhere. I find information about rallys from the past, but often don't see anything regarding upcoming rallies unless someone posts something about it. No harm though. I'm still a working stiff and these rallies will probably have to wait awhile before I can attend.

Rather than paging through the various categories looking for something in the hundreds of postings that *YOU* are interested in, use the "Active Topics" tool (up in the right hand corner). This will show all topics which have been updated since you last logged on (there are other selections such as in the past few hours, days and weeks). Then you can pick which topics to look at without having to page through older stuff.

All the information is here if you look for it. We are but a fraction of Montana owners. Some other brands have forums sponsored by the manufacturer that promote participation.

Over the years I've talked to many Montana owners who had no idea MOC existed. Few of them were ever interested enough to join.

A lot of people just don't 'do' computers much. My husband and I are both over 70 (me just barely!) and I know many contemporaries who hate computers. Or, if they do use them they don't really know how to do a search. Or, don't even think about using any type of social media to network with other Montana owners. There are folks on the FB Montana group who've never heard of MOC.

Believe it or not, there are some Montana owners who, do not care to attend rally's, do not do computers, and do not care to join forums that provide a wealth of information. To each there own.

Last winter in Casa Grande AZ, there were 25-30 Montanas in the park, and only 3 of us were MOC members. We invited several to join us for an informal get together and really encouraged them to explore the benefits, but they didn't seem interested. I even helped fix a problem on one of their rigs, and he said where did you ever find that information! I told him that it was the MOC, but...

Just what I was going to say. Met a guy in Casper in June, and he also didn't do computers.

I don't care to attend rallies. When I go "camping" I go to get away from everything. I use MOC to learn and share.

That's the way I feel. Don't always have time to join in, but I have solved many problems due to the expertise of the members. Read a lot of posts, but don't always contribute. It is a valuable forum.

As Wagon Master of the Mid-Atlantic rally there were 3 of the 26 attendees that could not find details of the rally. As jfaberna states, the current rallys are down below the archived prior year rallys. Why can't the topic (or the rally calendar topic) be moved higher in the forum?

Yes they need to move the up coming information to a better position on the forum. Also how about some plaques, stickers and other items with the MOC logo on them for sale.

We of course like rallies. We go to several each year not only MOC rallies. The truth is you can learn more at a rally national or regional than you can reading this forum every day for a year ..or more.

Then there is the hidden benefit - knowing who to talk to at Keystone if you do have an issue. Having that personal connection - priceless.

I would think it would certainly benefit Keystone Montana to promote the MOC to all new owners and push the dealers to promote it.....the more the merrier and it would promote the product better.....
