Sewer & Gray Water Swivel
Being a new owner of a Montana, you can guess the suprise when I went to dump the sewer and gray water and no hose! With that said what are you views on the swivel sewer line! It suppose to hold 15 feet of hose but I find that it binds up at the end next to the trailer and only let's out about 9 feet of hose. Have I done something wrong!

Never have used it. I like my clear elbow I attach to the trailer so I can see when the tanks are draining clear water. Thought it was a good idea when I saw the boom when I purchased the trailer, but have changed my mind about it. Just my opinion, many like it.

I removed mine, I like the clear elbow also.
If you do some searches on sewer boom, you will see where some folks have modified the boom, actually made it longer to fit more hose.

My opinion ... P.I.T.A. As stated above, it seemed innovative at first glance, but has went downhill in usefulness ever since. Without some modification,it barely stores 15' of hose. I never can get it to completely drain before I swing it back into the stow position, so I look like some Goober driving down the road with fluid dripping from the end cap even if it is but clear water.Perhaps for fulltimers it's the "cats meow", but for a recreational camper it disappoints. I'm leaning towards installing a door in the lower skirting like my other two Montanas and fabbing some thout fashion of a basket or shelf behind to carry the hose. The swing bracket is coming off ............

I think just the opposite. Mine works great for me....guess that's what makes the world go around! There has been many discussions on this. Check out http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...rms=sewer,boom.
Many times, I can pull into a campground and swing the tube exactly over the sewer pipe with no supports. Hook up is literally seconds. It took a little mod but I couldn't be happier with the setup.

We have learned to live with it...regarding the "clear elbow," we purchased a piece of clear straight pipe and attached at the point where the hose goes into the sewer input.

I like the boom and only have a 10' hose that stays connected and stored in the boom. I recently bought a new 20' hose that is two pieces that join in the middle with the same type connector as that where the hose hooks to trailer. Most of the time the 10' in the boom will reach, but when I need more, I have the other 10' stored in a container with lid. Best hose I have found in 29 years of travel trailers and fifth wheels. Boom works OK for me.

I cut back the ridged rubber cover where it attaches to the boom and that made it possible to fully swing the boom back toward the rear of the trailer. It also keeps the hose from binding up since the loop was taken out of the rubber cover. I have a 12' hose that fits in the boom and with my set up I can have my trailer pretty much anywhere within 12' of the sewer dump and still reach it in either direction. I also use a straight clear fitting right at the end of the hose where it goes in the ground so I can check out when it's clear.

I use Rhino sewer hose-that said they make a 10 foot piece that fits just right in boom.I then attach the rest of the hose(15ft)to the sewer connect. Most times length is just right.(rhino hose compress's so its never to long.)Works for me!
