King of Duct Tape
So the story begins at the Mt. Shasta Rally in May. It was raining and Ed decided to drive me to the club house for the Meet and Greet. Since we were close to the club house he backed up the road. There was a iron post about 3 ft. tall (just below the sight line of the truck) and he hit it. Fender is not metal but fiberglass and broke into many pieces.
Truck Boo Boo.
Ed was very upset and picked up some of the pieces. So Don Moore with the help of Doug and Michael gathered the rest of the pieces and had a special "drawing" for a gift for Ed.
Ed’s Gift
So Ed, being the King of Duct Tape, fixed the truck!

Just a note about those plastic fenders. I have found instant glue to be very good at piecing these parts together. You just need to go slow and make sure everything is alignedas you don't get a second chance. You can get instant glue in various setup times at most hobby shops. They also carry hardener but it seems to mar the finish of the plastic.

Now we know that Ed is a full fledged mechanic! You know, the gray goes well with white! If you need some extra MOC stickers for the full Monte dressup, I know where you can get them.

Good job Ed. What would a man do without duct tape and WD-40?

Hate to hear about the mishap, those things can happen though; I do believe that "Red-Green" would be proud of your fix!

This has to be the most masterful use of Duck Tape I have ever seen. This should be forwarded to the the Duck Tape website. They have lot's of stories of creative uses for their product. http://www.duckproducts.com/creative/

Larry,
If Ed can get that bicycle to run using just duct tape then I'll bring the crown myself!
Where are you folks now?

We're at home in Texas right now. After leaving the Tucson Rally, we spent a little time in New Mexico, returned home for a while and then made the Branson Rally. After that we took a "Montanaless" trip to New Orleans. We just cancelled a planned trip to Las Vegas this month (too hot!!). Next month we set out on our longest trip yet. We're headed for New England to see the fall colors. On the way back we'll spend a week in the Shenandoah Valley, take in Washington DC and head down the Eastern coast and back across home to TX.

Ed, Alaska has an annual "Ball" that they have a duct tape contest for best dressed. Duct tape is the number one tool that everyone has in their toolbox. I flew the bush for a couple years and ALWAYS had a roll with me and had to use it very often, in fact, I would not fly without it. Having said all this, you could be an honorary Alaskan for your hanductwork....Sorry you had to use it that way though. I recently backed over a 2 foot high water stand pipe in a park, but did no damage to the truck, Thank You Lord!!!!!
