One more step completed

Towards our longtiming when Helen retires.Today we firmed up "house sitting" while we are away. To make a long story short it will be our next door neighbor and folks we can fully trust. There will be someone living in the house full time . In general we will pay the utilities except for the ones they do not need such as the newspaper, phone/ DSL service and in return they wll do all the winter maint, Live in the home, foward our mail when necessary(we can do most everything on line) What to do with the homes is always a issue, other than selling it and that was not a option. We can now pick some dates for our departure and return time is open ended. We think we will be on the road by December 1st. This has been a good day.

Thanks all.We can now shift our focus to the "make the plans" phase. We will start out in Lake Havasu City and we have already received some really good advise from folks on the forum and will be looking for more recommendations. Yuma, Az is also on our list and we we can't pass up a stay at Quartzsite since we have heard so much about it.We would like to make it to the RGV also. I know that is a lot of moving around...but....we have a lot of time...Yes...

Sounds great, Rich. Cheryl and I are extremely happy living in our Montana. It has been just a little over three weeks. You will love calling your Montana your "home away from home".

Congratulations Rich and Helen. We are still a couple years away from that step but are working toward it. Barb has one more year of teaching and we are looking forward to the change.

Rich, Glad that worked out for you. That's our goal - to be long-timers; and who knows, we might just decide to do it, even without a house sitter - the neighbors do a good job of keeping an eye on the place externally. Even if we don't take the Montana south this year, we are toying with the idea of flying down and visiting the Monty group at "Q".

I'm happy things are working out for you. It must have been meant to be. December is just a moment away now, best of luck. Kim
