Satellite Hook up ??
Had a Direct TV person install our Direct TV receiver and satellite dish yesterday. He stated that we need a diplexer or a tri-plexer installed in order to use the roof mount antena, cable connector and the satellite. At this point with the satellite hooked up I can not switch to cabel or antena with out changing connections behind the TV that is almost impossible to reach. With the antena on the roof and the cable jack and the satellite jack both in the outside comfort compartment you would think that all the connections were already in the unit. Have any of you had this problem?

I dont know where they come up with these guys, there should be several inputs on the back of your tv, your sat reciever should only use one the HDMI. I dont know why he would have disconnected the others.

yea frank, i had the same problem with DISH. they screwed up all of the wiring in the walls.
i finally hired someone...$100+ to tell me that the only way i could do it was to keep exchanging the cables up by the front TV.
it drove me nuts and I am a ham radio operator....
if you want some help drop me a note with your phone and I'll call you and try to work it through.
i have one cable entry at the side of the trailer....terrible design from montana.

I solved my satellite, cable, on-air-antenns inputs to the televisions by using a 5 position video switch from Camping World. Basically, I can hook up the satellite, cable and on-the-air signal simultaneously and just select via a push button the signal I want at either television. Works like a champ. I leave my on-the-air amplifier ON all the time because the no other signal goes thru that amplifier. Yes, I have separate input connectors for my satellite and cable. The on-the-air antenna is already hard wired to the antenna on the roof. Contact me if you want to discuss further. I have a 2006 Montana.

As Tim states, a video switch box is the way to go. I had two inputs from outside and just had to push a button on the switch box for Sat or cable. Worked fine until we went to the dual cable DVR from Direct.....

Unfortunately, everyone who has responded (including me) have earlier model Montanas with completely different TV/cable/satellite wiring systems. Current Montanas allow for separate inputs for all three types of inputs. Here is the wiring diagram for 2010 and later Montanas.
Without knowing the specifics of what was installed by DirecTV it is difficult to know what needs to be done. I know there are members with current Montana models who have DirecTV, cable, and OTA options without swapping cables. It can be done. I suggest you study the wiring diagram and wait for one of them to comment.

Oh how I like DISH Network. I hook up the antenna to the back of the satellite dish (antenna input on DISH) the go to the menu and scan for local channels. Once scanned in it shows up in my guide a different color than the satellite channels, complete with digital information and synopsis.
Thank you DISH.
Are you sure DirecTV doesn't have something like that?
