Keeping track of trailer mileage and costs

I have a question for the group. I try to keep track of the mileage and other items of interest to me on my trailer. I use Auto Wolf software to handle vehicle maintenance and it adapts a little for the trailer. Has anyone out there found a tracking/maintenance program geared towards RV life. It helps to know when to grease bearings, rotate tires etc.

One way which I have considered but not done yet would be to get one of those mileage things you see on the wheels of big rigs.

I use Microsoft Works, only a running list. For example, if I waxed it on 11/1/09, I know it's due 11/1/10. When I wax it, I put down that date, but I don't delete the old date of 11/1/09. In other words I have a running list and a complete history.

I don't..what's the point. We just go. So what if you find out you are spending to much money on the Rv and truck..do we quit rv'ing???? we don't know so we keep on going.. {]

I created a simple Excel spreadsheet. Actually I have it converted to Microsoft Works spreadsheet now. I don't try to track cost, just mileage and number of nights on the road. But a cost column(s) could easily be added. That might could get a little complex for a simple spreadsheet, but doable.
I just enter the dates for each trip, where the trip took us, mileage, and number of nights. Then I have cells where I track the mileage on things such as the current set of tires, mileage since wheel bearings were greased, etc.
As far as trip mileage, when we return from a trip I just use google maps to get their calculated mileage for the route we took. That is as close as I need it.

Brand is a Stemco. I got it from Campers World in Alabama (out of bussiness now I think. Mounts to the hub>

I use a spreadsheet (Excel) and it tracks mileage, fuel cost, price per gallon, site rent, electric and propane. I have an average function at the bottom. I get the mileage off of the GPS report each day. Of course it also has the city and state. It is nice when looking through pictures that we can't identify to check date picture was taken and then find where we were on that date. Of course those of you that don't have AAADD would not need this. (Age Activated Attention Defecit Disorder)

I track mileage so I know how many miles on are on my tires and when to repack bearings etc. Pretty easy. My GMC truck has a "Business" trip odometer and I turn it on when I pull out of the driveway, turn it off when I get home.

I am not full time but I track all mileage and trip information with MS XL. Justifies the computer and software expense. I am always looking back at the data to answer questions of when and where we have been and what has or has not been done the camper. Retirement life does not keep the mind very occupied and that is not good.

Our Digital camera has a time and date stamp so we know the date the picture was taken. We also take a pictures of the name of the C.G or area we are in. Office main entrance , etc. So we have the time, date and place for reference . That is the KISS method. I am very labor intolerant. Don't know for sure how many miles we have towed. We have had two trucks pulling this 3400..25K on truck #1 and 35K on truck number two thus far. The trucks are used primarily to tow the camper and little else. Of the 60K total miles a conservative estimate would be 80% of that is towing miles so we have towed @ 48K in nearly 5 years. I don't want to know how much that cost us just that we paid the bill and still have some $ left.
I spent most of my working life crunching numbers and do not care to crunch any more.

I too crunched numbers and I still enjoy it. It keeps my brain active and my Excel expertise active. I still do many things with Excel. It only takes a minute to add info after the spreadsheet is set up, not labor intense at all. To each his/her own.
