cellular amplifiers

I know there are quite a few folks on here using the Wilson/Weboost cellular amplifiers. After looking at the RV targeted models the Drive 4G-X and RV-4G I gathered from their website that the residential targeted Connect 4G-X has both a more powerful cell amplifier as well as a more powerful internal antenna. Being a guy and subscribing to the bigger is better premise I don't see any downside other than $$ to using a more powerful amplifier in an RV application. I am wondering if any other MOC members are using the Connect 4G-X. Regulations now forbid the Connect 4G-X from being used in motion and this is not a problem for me. In addition AC power supply is not an issue for me either. The external antenna are also interchangable so a more permenant mount friendly option is available.

Don't have it, but usually there is a spec for minimum separation distance between the outside vs inside antenna. If you can meet the spec, I can't envision why you couldn't use the home version.

They all work good if you have a small signal. If no signal, so far I haven't found one that will work. Coverage is getting better

We have never found the need for them in 10 years of on the road.

cellular amplifiers

Thanks for the responses guys. Rich I am still working and require "access" so I need to cover all my bases to insure some level of access to both cell and internet. I would imagine that I will plan locations to need the amplifier as little as possible so I liken it to insurance. I did find out from the manufacturer with the retail versions if the signal is too strong their devices will actually degrade the signal. Wasn't expecting that. Going to look at the Wilson Pro commercial line of products as they do not have that functionality.

We are on the road nearly all year and use the internet for everything so connectivity is critical. We are on a Verizon plan with a Verizon jet pack and two smart cell phones. I can not remember the last time we could not get acceptable internet access. Coverage has improved over the last few years. Back in the 3G days we had a Wilson amp but have not had the need since 4G. Does not hurt to cover all bases tho.

Someone once related that as you use more and more data service, throttle back to 3g service happens. Sounds logical to me.
