Dave you got a truck that is at least 500lbs heavier with taller gears.

I have to use 5th if I am running 60 on a 2 lane.

I sold my OEM trailer tires on Craigs list. Maybe a option.

Enjoy that new truck. Jim

Been thinking of that, I know I can sell these tires for a pretty good return, but I like the look they give the truck. Gotten a good many compliments on it, lol lol....So I am gonna give it some time and see how I like towing in 5th. If it bugs me then that is probably what I'm gonna do. Oh and Mike I washed it and she runs better now so no Ford lol lol..I think it was all the Sonic's bags and cups on the rear floor causing the problem....My wife says if he only knew how OCD you are in keeping vehicles clean lol lol lol

Talking about gears, my Chevy when it tow/haul won't even go to 6th until I'm at least 63 MPH. Will hold there pretty good, but slow down to about 60 and it drops back to 5th. So yea, running on 2 lanes at 55 we're in 4th and 5th all the time.

Nope, My Tow/Haul uses all 6, just changes shift timming. However, some brands/transmissions do lock out 6th in T/H.

My Exhaust Brake has it's own switch to turn it on and off, while some brands use the tow haul switch to activate what they wish was a exhaust brake.

Ours, even when in Tow/Haul, only needs to be above 57 mph to get into 6th when on level terrain. Really cool to see the tach so low while towing the trailer.

Jim
I presume you were being tongue-and-cheek, but I can cruise @ 80 in my F-450 w/4:30 gears without issue. If I couldn't I am not sure it would matter since I am just not in that big of a hurry and if I was I would buy a Vette.

I do like the lower gear ratios for the pulling power and roughly 50% of our miles are towing. It is a personal choice and everyone needs to decide what works for them.

Kyle, Yea, just poking fun at a Ford Member that pokes fun at us Ram guys. After all we got to do it with a 6 cyl's and they have 8.

Hope you don't take it serious cause there is nothing serious on this forum. Just friends messing with each other. And hopefully helping each other with problems.

Jim

No, 80 is just fine.

Got to love Tx. 70 on some 2 lanes and 85 on the Interstates....and the Turnpike south of Austin.
