fireplace

I have a 2012 3150RL and am considering installing a fireplace under the TV. Any and all comments would be appreciated? Also how cold can it be outside and the furnace will keep pipes from freezing?

Ours is a 2012 3402RL, and it came with a Dimplex fireplace. I don't know what your rig will need to install one. As far as keeping plumbing from freezing, we have been in single digit temps and the furnace kept the pipes from freezing, of course, we were going through a 7 gallon tank of propane every two days when it got down that low.

I installed one under the TV in my 2007 3075RL. Bought one from http://www.electricfireplacesdirect....ric-fireplaces that fit my opening perfectly without have to make modifications to the cabinet, except remove the doors and add some trim around it.

Basically you just need to do the carpentry to frame it in and have electricity and you're good.

We ordered our present 2012 without the FP because we wanted the extra storage being full-time. I found that they still installed the breaker and the plug where they would have gone. I tapped into this source for extra outlets. Maybe yours is already wired and ready to plug in?

Very nice job. Mantle and trim work first rate! We have always enjoyed our fireplaces, particularly on chilly mornings.

I don't have and never had a FP....and don't want one. We carry two 1,500 watt Lasko tower heaters. All electric heaters can put out a max of 1,500 watts...so there is no heating advantage with a FP. Granted FPs look good, but the Laskos are portable so we can move them around. With the FP, you can't move it and it takes up valuable storage space.

I took my fireplace out and gave it away. I would rather have the storage space. All electric heaters are 100% efficient. That is you get one dollars worth of heat for one dollars worth if electricity no matter if the heater is a fireplace or a 10$ one. The only exception is a fan burns some power too.

We have a 2016 3160RL with a fireplace. We love it! It DOES warm up the room! We prefer cooler temps to sleep and the first thing in the morning the fireplace goes on to warm the place up. We have two portable electric heaters to use if it gets really chilly. We figured we might as well use the RV park electricity rather than our propane. If it gets really cold, we turn on the furnace.

We also really enjoy the "ambience" the fireplace gives us!

Although a F\P looks nice and does put some heat I would not use it to keep the pipes from freezing it won't heat the under belly of the rig. to add one you need a 20 amp circuit breaker to run it so you will need to run wiring for it plus you loos the storage space. But they do work nice on those chilly mornings when you don't need the furnace.

I thought all 3150RL’s from 2010-2014 came with a fireplace. I learn something everyday here.

We have lived in it at -10 and it kept it warm. Burned 1 30 pound cylinder a day. Also had the fireplace on.

We really like our FP. Their is so much storage now in our Montana that storage is not an issue. We leave the FP on overnight on our annual snowbird trip south at the end of November and it is pleasant to wake up to a moderately warm trailer instead of freezing you know what off.

We have one in our Montana. Bought the Montana used and after a couple of trips found the background glass had shattered. I contacted Dimplex to order a replacement and upon checking their records, found it was still in warranty even though I am not the original owner. They shipped it to me and I had it inside of three days. It is rare to find a company that backs it products that seriously, especially glass.

We use ours to take the chill off in the mornings and it does a great job both then and on rainy days. You will most likely have to use your propane to keep your belly area warm. The blower on the fireplace is not strong enough to get the heat up to the ducts under the stairs that lead to the belly of the camper.

Just love our fireplace, sure helps with propane usage. When I hear about ripping things out of a Montana, I always think what would a buyer think if I needed to sell it??

Here in Florida during the so called winter months the FP is all we need to keep the Montana warm.

We have never used all the storage space even going to Mesa or a trip across U.S. My wife really likes the FP.
