Kipor 3000ti vs 3500ti question
I know some of you have the Kipor generators and might have the answer?
I am looking at the Kipor 3000ti and see that it does not have a 30 amp twist lock plug but see an adapter that takes the to 2 15 amp plug and make it a 30 amp twist lock, does anyone use this adapter set up and does it work to give you the 23.3 amps the kipor puts out. I found some 3500ti's that have to 30 amp twist lock plug build into them but if to 3000ti with the adapter work the same as the 3500ti I can save 200+ getting the 3000ti.
Thanks for your help clearing my confusion up.....

It is my understanding that the Kipor 3000 and the 3500 are the same generator.. it started out as the 3500 then they changed the name to the 3000.My 3500 has the twist plug////

Is the 30 amp twist a 120 or 120/240 outlet?

Hi Broome101, Its 120v...nice catch! I wired the two hot legs into the connection on Gen side of that plug so its less cluttered when boondocking (don't need bunch of adapters etc to plug into the 50amp coach cable).

Thanks for the relpies... the 3500 seems with the twist lock plug looks like the way I need to go. richfaa I found the info on the 3500 changing to 3000 but you have to see which 3000 (old or new) you are getting. The main differance I'm seeing is the old 3000 is only 20.3 amp output vs the 3500 @ 23.3 amp. The info I found on the new 3000's is there somewhere in between the above mentioned 2 unit in amps and I can't remember if the new 3000 has the twist lock or not so I'm going for the old 3500ti.
I have heard that if you buy a "new" Kipor from a non-distributer ie:e-bay the warrenty will not be honered ?? Any ideas on that...
Thanks again,
Kim (kegger5769)

Yes the 3000/3500 issue is confusing..you just have to look at the spec's to make sure. On the Non-Warranty issue I did hear that same story but do not know if it is true. I would go to www.kipor.com and ask the question. Mine is the "old 3500" it is heavy but it does the job for the 3400. We do not plan to remove it from the back of the truck unless Helen works out a little more....

Another thing to consider is the "old" 3000ti had a 171 CC engine compared to the "new" 3000ti which has a 200 CC engine. Also the "old" 3000ti has a 1.5 gal fuel tank compared to a 3.5 gal fuel tank on the "new" 3000ti. I've always been a believer in cubic horsepower even when I'm talking miniature horses! Depending on how you intend to use it, there definitely is over 2X the weight difference to add to the formula.
