How often do you have components serviced?
Having our 2007 3400RL gone through and having some upgrades done before we start doing some more frequent traveling and hopefully some long-timing. Local RV shop (highly recommended and NOT a CW) suggested that since the rig is 10+ years old that we have the water heater, furnace, and both A/C's serviced by them (cleaning, function check, etc). The price was reasonable, and I would rather find a problem now rather than in Podunk, Tx. Also, at age 10 years I am having all of the roof caulking, seals, etc removed and redone (we are in TX). My question: how often do most of you have these "services" done? TIA

On my fifth wheel, I check over slide seams once a year to make sure things are not degrading. My water heater bite the dust at roughly three years and I replaced it myself. I check anode rod in it yearly even running a water softener. Furnace is only used rarely as we fulltime...it's working I'm happy, if it dies, I'll fix it. Water heater flushing yearly when changing anode rod is really the only preventive maintenance that has to be done, unless you have the need to winterize. Just my opinion of course.

I also do it all myself except the AC units. I pay somone to take the covers off and check function and blow out the coils. We summer where Mud Dabbers are common and I don't care to be up on the roof and have to deal with them also.

I do 90% of my work and PM's on my 04 Montana water heater I drain 2 times a year, replace anode yearly, flush fresh water after 3 trips. other than that all has been very good to me other than holding tanks which I sub out.

Never. Like others I do as much as possible myself. Have never lost a water heater or a furnace.

I do most all my preventive maintenance (A/C, furnace, hot water heater, brakes, wheel bearings, caulking, dump valves) as well. To me, it's just an annual part of owning an RV. I look things over good in the Spring and some items again in late Summer. I just can't see paying a dealer $100+ / hr to do these things that can easily be done by the average RV owner.
