CORIAN SCRATCHES...AGAIN

I know this has been talked about many times on this forum, but I thought I would relate my experience and solution. It happened on our last outing about 2 weeks ago when I was doing some crock-pot cooking. I took the crock out and set it on the counter and moved it around a bit while putting some water in it. Well, the roughness on the bottom of the crock made some really "NICE" scratches in the CORIAN counter top. When I saw these I was sick....you know.... the kind of feeling you get when you have done something you could have prevented

So after contemplating selling the rig to buy a new one, I started looking around on this website and the web to find out how to fix my mistake without having to hire somebody to do it. This is what I came across. Some really good information from Dupont (the manufacturer of CORIAN) at this website: Dupont CORIAN
and this kit the "Micro-Mesh™ Counter top Repair Kit - Part No. 3KCOUNT" at this website: Micro Mesh. I purchased the kit from their website but you can probably get it from any CORIAN dealer.

I worked on the scratches today following the recommendations from the Dupont website for "Removing minor cuts and scratches" and the counter top looks as good as new if not better. This is one of the few products you purchase these days that actually work as advertised It took a little bit of time (1.5 - 2 hours) but patience and a light touch was the key. Just thought I would pass this along for anyone who has or will have scratches on/in their CORIAN.

ON EDIT: I went over the entire counter top yesterday using Soft- Scrub cleanser and a wet dish cloth. I used a circular motion and made sure to rinse everything very well to get the cleanser residue off. This step completely blended everything together and thoroughly cleaned the counter. I then sprayed the entire counter with Windex and wiped dry. I am very please with the results. We will make sure we put a towel or something else under any pot, pan or crock we place on the counter from now on.
