If I understand what you're asking, in many rigs the converter is under the stairs.

In my 2005, the converter was behind the power panel. Are you saying the 12V lights are dimming when you plug into 110?

In my 2005 2955RL, the best access is through the basement on the right side of trailer. Remove the 4 screws on the first panel on your left. It can also be seen from removing the panel on the stairs.

Our 2007 3400 had it tucked in behind the power panel above the toilet in the throne room. Some 3400 models did have it beneath the stairs and from what I remember it was easily seen through the intake grates on the stair risers.

While connected to 110 measure your battery voltage then turn 12v lights on and check battery voltage again, it should not drop. If it does your converter is not working. You will have a 110v breaker for it, check this first. If you have power to the converter then you will have to find it. I'm sure it has fuses too that you can check.

I think this will work...if you simply have your rig on shore power, you should be able to disconnect the positive battery cable and your 12V lights should remain on. If they go out, your converter has failed. Typically your converter also charges your battery, so I'm pretty sure if one works the other should too. I would also check the breakers and fuses to make sure they're all good.

If your battery is really old, you might want to disconnect it and measure the voltage. It could be that a cell has either died, or started to die and it may be time to replace the battery as it's dragging down the 12VDC bus.

Sounds like the converter to me. A 2005 model...that's about the right amount of time.

Just an FYI that happened on our Monty. Happened to check the battery monitor one day and noticed it way down (with all LED lites we still had plenty of lite). Thought the converter had bit the dust, but upon removing the Right side rear bulkhead panel to get access to the converter found the plug for the converter had vibrated loose from the outlet it was plugged into. Reseated and tywraped in place. Problem solved.
Sometimes problems are very simple to solve.

Was having same problem with our 2013 3100RL. After checking converter and found everything working and battery was charged. When shore power was turned off there was no 12 volt in unit. Call Keystone and rep suggested turning battery disconnect off and no. All is now working. Being in a salt environment corrosion is always a problem. Thanks Keystone.
