On the Road in the Morning

Finally after all the delays and all the packing we are heading out in the morning. We are headed for Savannah from Land O Lakes Wi. Tired, back sore, DW crabby, one of the dogs is shedding and diesel is through the roof. Yup we are on the road in the morning. We are taking the south route this trip. US-51,to I-39,to I-55, to I-10, to I-95, to
Savannah. We should hit Savannah by next weekend. We will be off line for most of the time unless we stay somewhere for more than one day then I will setup the Hughes dish or if they have free wifi. So we will let ya'll know what's happening when we can.. Dave and Betsy

Once your on the road, you'll forget all about the work it took, and the crabbiness will also go away .

Congratulations, and have a safe trip.

Enjoy the ride, and may God go with you and keep you safe as you travel. It's getting cold here in Maine, wish we were headed out, too. Later.

Hope you have/had a safe and enjoyable trip. Be sure to check out Tybee Is. while you're down Savannah way. Neat area. Good little seafood place on the water there to relax and watch the sun set, too.!

It is pulling great, we got 12.3 mpg on the trip down from Land O Lakes. it is a bit heavier than when we towed it home from the dealer. On the trip down with the Jayco we used 18.5 gallons of fuel. We towed the Big Sky home and used only 13.5 gallons and the return trip was 40 miles farther and uphill from 965 feet to 1748 feet. So we are very pleased with the mileage. When we packed the rig we were just getting stuff inside so we could leave on time. Yesterday we emptied the basement and the front storage area and completely repacked. Now everything fits and we still have room left. We will start getting rid of stuff we don't use on the trip back north next spring. Last spring we got rid of a lot of clothes and other stuff we didn't use. We were very mindful of the amount of gear we packed but then again we have ten times the storage space than we had on the Jayco. It was hard not just throwing everything we 'might' need in the rig. So all in all we are doing great and hope to be in Savannah by next week... Dave and Betsy

We left Wisconsin in a wind storm worrying about the wind. We had 40 to 50 mph cross winds all the way to St.Louis. We only had one bad wiggle and that was on the top of an overpass and a semi and a gust of, I would say about 60mph intersected all at the same time. Other than that the ride was smooth and quiet. We made it to St. Louis and decided to spend an extra day here to go see the Arch. That done we are heading south to Sikeston, Mo. in the morning. Memphis the next day then on to Jackson, MS. We bailed from Wi. just in time, yesterday and last night they got 10 inches of very wet and heavy white stuff. Wow, dodged the bullet for a second year in a row... Dave and Betsy

I remember how difficult and stressful it was to finally "get on the road". Learning to relax, take your time and enjoy the ride will come in time.

Packing and repacking, getting rid of stuff you don't need and acquiring new STUFF to fit in your home is a fulltime job!

Best of luck to you, safe travels.
