Dish on the go Deposit
You all that use dish on the go, did you have to pay a deposit of 1 month fee?
I turned ours on Jan 2, and turned it off April 30(4 months), I had made a payment for the month of May(#5 payment) and called them on April 30th to turn off service and they refunded the last payment.
Today, I get a bill for double the monthly payment of $76 dollars. I called and she told me that they charge a deposit of 1 month. So she says i still owe this 1 month deposit cause the money was refunded.
I was never told that I have to pay 1 month ahead, and they hold onto that until i quit dish(I guess).
THANKS....

And the odd part is, I activated it back in October for 1 month, and didnt pay it then.
I guess its more like paying 1 month in advance.

I have never been asked for a deposit nor did I have any knowledge of a deposit requirement. That's one I have never heard of.

We did not pay a deposit. However when we were not planning to use it for a while, I did not pay for the next month, and they automatically canceled our service, and the next month I got a “past due” notice saying I owed 2 months. When I called and ask why I got that notice the lady said that is just how their billing system works and I should just ignore it. Couple months later I called to restart the service, paid one month, and had service back in a few minutes.
If they give you any grief just tell them you decided to go with Directv and they will quickly backpedal.

I guess "deposit" is a wrong work to have used, its 1 month in advance, and they keep it.
Not sure when you get it back.
Im waiting for Monday to roll around so I can talk to someone in the USA....

I just do not pay the next month and they automatically discontinue service until I pay the bill. Never had to call to discontinue service. I make sure before I let the bill lapse that I drop service down to minimum so I do not have premium/sports channels getting billed when I reconnect. never had to pay a "deposit".

It's not a deposit. It's paying a month in advance. I have had to do that from the day I opened the account.

You pay in advance for the coming month. At the end of that month you pay for the next month if you want to continue service. If you do not pay, they automatically stop your service until you restart it by paying for the next coming month.
If you permit them to auto charge your credit card, they will charge you every month whether you use it or not. I did not permit them to do that.

I guess deposit is the wrong word, yes 1 month up front, but do they keep that, or does it go to pay your last bilL before turning the service off?

So I called DISH today and talked to someone here in the USA, after checking with his supervisor, he said do not worry about your bill. He said my account was not setup for DISH OUTDOORS.
It is now.

DISH Fees
I find that when I activate DISH they charge a full month in advance. When I de-activate I end up with a credit. They charge a monthly fee of about $5 which is applied to the credit. When I reactivate they charge another one month but I still have the residual credit. I guess if I asked for a refund that they would cancel my account and have to start all over with the next activation. Their online activation process seems to have gotten better. We particularly like the Wally receivers. Hope this helps. Steve
