Lift?
Well I've got all the pink stuff in and cleaning out the parishables from inside today. Now I need to know something-- Do I need to jack the 2980 up to get the tires off the ground completely or can I just back the Monte onto some 2X12s so it's not on the ground and be safe? It is sitting on rock(crushed limestone and river rock right now) and was wondering if that would be sufficient without boards since it's not sitting on dirt?!!? I'll be posting another on the clear line after I put the pink stuff in!

Rondo, lifting the tire off the ground isn't necessary, but I would back onto 2x10s just so they have a flat smooth surface to sit on.

I don't have the technical expertise to answer your question but I know we have some tire experts in the MOC who may help. Using my own reasoning, I park the Monty on a stone base which drains the moisture right through and keeps the tires out of any puddling that might occur on dirt. This makes sense to me to keep moisture away from the tires as much as possible. I don't think jacking them off the ground is necessary. I also cover them with extra large trash/leaf bags to keep moisture and dirt off the weels and tires. I could be proven wrong by the experts though.

We park on boards. And the boards are on recycled asphalt, drive way.
We also cover the tires and wheels with tire covers. Wind is so bad here we have to tie them on. After having to get one out of a tree.

We park ours on crushed rock. As said above, this drains water away from the tires. Have done it this way for years and have had no problems. This is in icy, snowy Michigan.

Take the advise of the current tireman, LonnieB, and a retired tireman, Me, and park the tires on some 2 X 10's.
Covering the tires is not necessary but absolutely will not hurt them and it will help keep the wheels clean.

I use the concrete squares (12X12) you can get at the hardware store. About a buck a piece. Just make sure the ground is relatively flat under them or they will crack. Stop about a foot short, put them behind the tires and back up. Also use them under tounge jacks or the 5th wheel legs. Park all my trailers on them.

Covering the tires will help protect the tires from UV rays. Kerry
