Roadside Service

Does anyone have any advice for good roadside service to include 5th wheel as well as family vehicles.

Had AAA few years back but they didn’t service 5th wheel. Got Good Sam’s now but currently no happy with service. Any other recommendations?

Poppop1432,

Welcome to the forum!

You can also check with your insurance company you use for truck and rig. I use Geico for both and have roadside assistance on both policies at a reasonable rate. In a lot of areas you are liable to have to wait awhile getting good help with your rig no matter what company you use.

Thanks, it was just very frustrating to be sitting on a busy highway for over 4 hours with state police and having GS contact 2 that ended up not helping! State police called a local towing company which was not cheap and I am still waiting on resolution from GS!! I will contact my insurance and see what my options are with them.

Coach-net has good reviews from users. We have it but have never had to use it on our own.

The cam sensor failed on my 2007 F350 years ago. Called Ford but I was slightly out of warranty for free tow. And I did not have ERS at the time. But they referred me to a tow service that quickly brought a roll back for my truck and a pickup with hitch to tow the 5er to an RV park. A few years later the high exhaust temp sensor on my 2012 F350 failed, not while towing. Called Ford and they had a tow company out within an hour. Found out later that Ford uses (or at least used to use) Coach-net as their towing service for warranty tows.

Had a flat on fiver during a trip last year in middle of Nevada on I 80. Have road service coverage with Farmer's. Took them less than an hour to show up.

If you are only interested in emergency roadside service, then you don't need a local dealer. They offer additional services such as service contracts, wheel/tire protection plans, paint/finish protection plans, etc. that would be something serviced by a local dealer/repair shop.

If you just want ERS, then you can sign up on line.

This post reminded me that I have to renew my Good Sam ERS, called them and a new member price is $79.95 with an upgrade to Platinum.

For me, being a member for 12 years, its $120. Usually they give me a break when I call in, this time nothing.

Guess its time to find someone else.

Does anyone use AARP ERS by Allstate?

I just called them and they are $98/year and tow up to 100 miles with 7 usages a year.

We have had Coach-Net for years and they have been great. Got a tire changed in a Wildlife Refuge where the GPS couldn't find the spot, saved our butt when a tire blew taking out another just north of Tucson and got an RV tech to come out the next day for an electrical issue in GA when his office said he couldn't come till next week.

So I called my car insurance company(Erie) and I have ERS on all my vehicles, including the 5th wheel. So I called the company, Agero ERS and they said they would dispatch any size truck out to tow what ever I need.

I specifically asked will you tow a 42 foot long 5th wheel with a broken axle, they said YES.

This ERS thru Erie only costs $6.00 per year.

Sounds to good to be true....

Did a little googling and found that Erie uses Agero for their roadside assistance provider. Have never heard of them. But a little more googling and they look pretty good. A number of good articles about them including this one.

Same thing happened to me. They would not budge on price so I said "bye-bye". Went with Escapees (SKPs). I think it was $99. Mostly, they all use the same towing companies. Just get best price and go with them.
