Letter to jennifer at Tredit

ElkhartSales@tredittire.com
Tredit Tire and Wheel
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
I am a member of the Montana Owners Club, we have a variety of Keystone products represented here. We also have friends that join in on discussions about our lifestyle that do not own a Keystone product yet, but are looking at them.

I don’t know how many members we have but I would guess around 5,000. I know that the group is close and we share many of the same problems, which brings this topic around to Tredit.

Aluminum wheel ratings. I have-had-have? 80#.. Or…120# rating on my 2007 Montana 3400RL,

I communicated with you back on Monday, November 1st 2010 at 8:27 A.M. when you agreed to send me the increased pressure stickers and letter.

I now understand that these are no good, I am a month away from buying all new tires, do I now need to stay with the 80# tires? Are my present wheels safe? Why did the pressure rating get changed? Do you make and sell heavier rated rims?

Many of our members have gone to the high-pressure tires, are they in danger now?

The wheel failures: Cracked spokes, are they covered? What about Tredit covering the cost of matching wheels if one or two are bad?

I think we all need clarification from your company.

This communication will be posted for all of the 5,000 members, we look for your response.

Thanks, Jim Osbern

Ozz,
Your e-mail is so well timed.
I have talking with a gentleman at the campground with a Montana, 2007, TR 6 rims and blew out a tire when he arrived a couple months ago.
We talked about going to G614, and that tridet gave me new sticker to attach to my rims last fall at the Montana Rally, along with a lot of other people.
He said he has sent e-mail, no reply and had called and was told that they had retest the TR6 and would not supply the sticker.
I told him about a post and that you (Ozz) had a e-mail from Jennifer saying that they would send you the stickers.
He call Jennifer on Friday and was told that they had retest the rim and would not rate it for anything over 80 psi.
OK, What give??????
I have G614 on TR6 rims with new stickers for 110lbs psi provided by Tridet.
So where do I sit???????

Thanks for stepping up Ozz. Wouldn't it be great if the RV industry starting holding themselves to a higher standard. I guess this is a good place to start, we'll see.

I wonder if the revocation on the re-certification is only on the TR-6 rims?? I went through the same exact thing on the new rig and was told by Tredit that they were rated at 110 psi. The rim specifics are as follows:

Tireco - 16" - 8H Alum SLV MACH

The e-mail from Jennifer stated:

Good morning sir,
The wheels that are in that tire wheel kit are rated for 3750lbs @110PSI. We have many customers that use the G614 Goodyear tire with that wheel and many end users have also upgraded to that tire with that wheel. So in short you are good to go!
Thank you and I hope that you have many wonderful travels in your new Keystone Montana!

Just more food for thought and discussion. We do have the 614s on these rims.

Thanks Ozz for writing this letter and trying to get it straightened out. We too are looking at getting new tires within the month.

Hopefully, they will get back to you shortly, especially since it can be a safety issue.

Just in case anyone is interested, Costco currently has $70 off a set of four Bridgestone tires --- like the Duravis R250.

I e-mailed Jennifer early last week...she has requested a picture of my wheels on my 2011 3580RL so she can identify it.
Need to get that done and sent.

I am very interested in the response you receive Joe. Please let us know what Tredit (Jennifer) says. I would venture to say that your rims most likely are the same as ours. My understanding is for the 2011 models, there are only two specific rim types that Keystone used, or at least that is what Jennifer told me when we were researching the pressure ratings on our rig.

Hmmmm, sounds like they do not want to put anything in writing?? Keep us informed Ozz, and if possible ask about the newer rims as well if you actually get a call.

Question; engraved on a spoke is 110 psi 3750. Planning on installing G614's this Wednesday! Is this rim go to go?

I just called Tredit and spoke to Jennifer. I told her that many of us were given rerated stickers and a letter for our TR6 rims and expressed concern that they might not be valid. She promised me a return call ASAP to discuss this.

Mike (pineranch), from what I can gather of all of this, the rims in question were the older rims that were originally rated at 80 psi (Specifically the TR-6's). We had them on our 2007 3400 and they were supposedly re-rated by Tredit to 110 psi. If your rims are stamped 3750# and 110 psi, I do not think that Tredit would back-track and recertify lower (but then again, who knows??). My reasoning is that they would then be on the hook for all of the higher capacity tires that were installed by manufacturers, dealers and end-users. It sounds like our rims are the same (8 spoke, 8 bolt) that I have 614's mounted on. Ironically, Tredit's web-site does not even show these newer rims that came on our 2011 model. From what Jennifer told me last year, all of the 3750# rims are rated at 110 psi. If it provides any consolation, I am completely pleased and confident with the 614's we now have on the rig. Disclaimer: I am not a tire nor rim expert, but am providing this information to clarify what we have done on our rig.

As of this morning, the silence is deafening. I guess ASAP means different things to some people. They have until this afternoon and then I'll call again and ratchet it up a bit.
